History
Functionality
The artifacts were capable of transmutating humans who touched them into hybrid beasts, which gave birth to various myths of fantastical beasts in ancient Greece, including the cyclops, Medusa, the Sphinx, and the Minotaur. When the artifact was active, it appeared as a glowing part of the hybrid beast's body.[1]
The transmutative affects of the Atlantis artifacts were so great that any human who touched the artifacts was transformed into a beast; this resulted in certain mythological beasts, such as Medusa, and the Minotaur seemingly surviving beyond their mythological deaths.
During the 5th century BCE, the Spartan misthios Kassandra collected the artifacts.[1] Due to her Isu heritage, however, she was able to resist the powers of the artifacts, and did not succumb to them.
Trivia
- Though the Atlantis artifacts look similar to the Apples of Eden when inactive, the artifacts are not themselves Pieces of Eden.
