The fortress occupied by the Sage of the Silver Vein and his soldiers

The Teichos of Herakles was a fortress dedicated to the legendary hero Herakles, located atop a peak in the Achaean region of Erymanthos Peaks, Greece. It served as the headquarters of Polemon the Wise, the Sage for the Cult of Kosmos' branch called the Silver Vein. Within the Teichos was an entrance into an underground cavern with an Isu-built room and chest.[1]

History[edit | edit source]

During the Peloponnesian War, the misthios Kassandra explored the fortress and found an Ainigmata Ostraka within.[1] She also tracked down Polemon, and slew him and his pet lynx.[2] When the Order of the Storm branch of the Persian Order of the Ancients came to Achaia searching for Kassandra, Darius, and Natakas, the Order members captured locals and took them to the Teichos. There, the civilians were questioned about a "man with yellow eyes" and a "misthios with a bird", only to then be rescued by the misthios in question herself.[3] While saving the people, Kassandra found a letter by the Order of the Storm member the Tempest addressed to the Cult of Kosmos.[4]

Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]

The Teichos of Herakles' location in the 2018 video game Assassin's Creed: Odyssey is based on the Achaian settlement called the Teichus of the Dymaeans, said to have been built by Herakles when he warred against the Eleans.

The location's name contains the Greek word τεῖχος (teîkhos), which means 'fortification, castle, fortified city'.
