Belly of the Beast was a virtual representation of one of Fujibayashi Naoe's genetic memories, relived through the Animus EGO.

Description

Naoe meets with Akechi Mitsuhide's son-in-law Ise Sadaoki to help gain entry into Honnō-ji.

Dialogue

Naoe arrived at the southern outskirts of Kyoto and traveled to the meeting under a bridge, where she found Sadaoki and his followers.

• Naoe: Lord Ise Sadaoki? Your lord said you would have a certain task for me.
• Sadaoki: It is well known who I am here. There is no need for such subterfuge.
  I hope your skills amount to more than this. Our plan relies upon it.
• Naoe: It will be my honor to show you.
• Sadaoki: You will find I'm not easily impressed.
• Naoe: If you say so, Lord Sadaoki.

• Sadaoki: As to your task, you will enter Honnoji ahead of our attack, concealed on a delivery cart. To do so, you must first acquire documents that allow the cart past the guards at the temple gate.
• Naoe: Then we will need to forge them.
• Sadaoki: Of course not. The risk of discovery is too great. They must be genuine. A samurai favored by Lord Nobunaga near Honnoji is known to hold such documents. Find him and retrieve them. I'm not concerned with the details of how you do it. Just return when you are successful.

Naoe instructed to complete the mission in her own way

• Naoe: And the samurai?
• Sadaoki: Did I not say no to concern me with details? Now go.

Naoe took a short bow as farewell and departed, while musing over his behavior.

• Naoe: That one has none of his father-in-law's charm.

Naoe finds the documents on a table

She headed to northern Kyoto and infiltrated the residence west of the temple. Inside one of the huts, she eliminated the samurai inside and looted the papers.

• Naoe: Lord Sadaoki's not the patient type. I'd better get him these documents.

Having retrieved the documents, Naoe returned to Sadaoki.

Naoe returns to Sadaoki after completing the mission

• Naoe: I have the documents.
• Sadaoki: That samurai failed in his duty. They all deserve the failure that is coming for them. You are priviledged to be part of a glorious beginning. We will rule a new age.
• Naoe: I am more concerned with ending the old one.
• Sadaoki: Lord Nobunaga took power that should only be given by birth. The Odas have always done this.

Naoe instructed to meet with Mitsuhide

• Naoe: When our task is done, will Lord Mitsuhide claim his birthright?
• Sadaoki: You cannot be expected to understand. Hurry now to Shoryuji Castle. You are summoned.

Naoe took her leave.

Outcome

Naoe retrieved important documents that would help her get into Honno-ji to assassinate Nobumaga.
