Of My Enemy was a virtual representation of one of Fujibayashi Naoe and Yasuke's genetic memories, relived through the Animus EGO.

Description

Naoe and Yasuke traveled to Takasago to look for the merchant Hiromichi.

Dialogue

Yasuke reached the outskirts of the city and overheard a civilian pleading with a samurai nearby.

• Civilian: These accursed soldiers are making the whole town miserable! You're a samurai, right? Isn't it your duty to help?

Yasuke entered the city and met a man near the storehouses.

• Yasuke: Are you Hiromichi's man?
• Hiromichi's Man: Maybe. You Yasuke?
• Yasuke: Yes. I need to talk to him.
• Hiromichi's Man: Come. He's expecting you.

Yasuke followed the man.

• Hiromichi's Man: Did the Ox send you to kill Hiromichi?
• Yasuke: Why do you ask?
• Hiromichi's Man: They merely tolerate each other. Lord Harumasa isn't fond of men who won't willingly die in his name. I would not be surprised if the Ox sends one of his true beleivers to "conclude their business."
• Yasuke: What if I told you I was sent to kill him?
• Hiromichi's Man: Then I would tell you that you don't need to kill me as well. I'm just paid to guard the docks.
• Yasuke: I am not here to take your employer's life.
• Hiromichi's Man: Like I said, I'm just paid to guard the docks.

Yasuke followed the man through a shop into a small valley, where they met a guard in front of the house.

• Bodyguard: Stop! No one goes in!
• Hiromichi: Now, now. No playing with the guest. Let the samurai through.

The bodyguard obeyed and gave way, allowing Yasuke to enter and meet Hiromichi.

• Hiromichi: Welcome to my home, samurai. I have heard such tales of you.

Yasuke took a seat opposite the merchant.

• Yasuke: I did not know I was know around these parts.
• Hiromichi: No need for modesty, sir. The Ox told me all about your exploits against his armies.
• Yasuke: You are testing me. Trying to see where my loyalties lie.
• Hiromichi: Refreshing to see someone with an ounce of judgement. You will make a fitting partner.
• Yasuke: What is it you want?
• Hiromichi: What I have is a simple business proposal. And like any good business, it stands to benefit us both. Bessho Harumasa intends to replace me with a faithful commander. He grows tired of my distaste for his grandiose speeches. His men at positioned at Takasago Shrine. Eliminating this mutual enemy would be quite beneficial, wouldn't you say?
• Yasuke: If I could get closer to the Ox then I would say our interests are aligned.
• Hiromichi: Do this for me, and I will smuggle your lady friend inside Miki Castle. A fair trade. Then it's settled. I will await your return.

Yasuke then headed south to Takasago Shrine, identifying the Ox's men as being based at the atakebune in the harbor. Yasuke swam towards the ship and climbed up, reaching the small building atop the ship. At the second floor, he confronted the Ox's lieutenant and attacked him.

• Takasago Commander: Hiromichi sent you, didn't he?

Yasuke killed the lieutenant.

• Yasuke: I should check the body. Could be something I can use.

He looted a manifest from his body.

• Yasuke: A shipment manifest, including supplies and cost of goods. This must be the Ox's latest cargo.

Having completed his mission, Yasuke swam back to shore and returned to Hiromichi.

• Yasuke: Your shipments are secure. I took care of the commander.
• Hiromichi: You are as fierce as they say. I knew I could count on you.
• Yasuke: You said you could get my friend inside Miki Castle undetected.
• Hiromichi: We'll get your friend inside Miki right under the Ox's nose. That will be easy compared to what you have done. With my competition gone, they will be desperate for my shipments.
• Yasuke: The Ox believes in something. A misguide cause. You believe in nothing.
• Hiromichi: Oh, please. And what good did this "cause" do Harima? He and his followers have brought us nothing but ruin.
• Yasuke: Just make good on your promise.
• Hiromichi: Certainly. Like you made good on yours. Speaking of which... You wouldn't happen to have found a ship's manifest on that commander you so graciously killed? If I were to have it, I could ensure the continued flow of goods into Harima. Make sure nobody goes hungry. It will also let me cut off competition at the root, but surely that's less important that the people of Harima, hmm?
• Yasuke: Even if I had found the manifest, I would not give it to you.
• Hiromichi: Hmph. Then our business here is done.

Outcome

Yasuke helped Hiromichi eliminate the Ox's lieutenant in Takasago, securing his promise to help smuggle Naoe into Miki Castle.
