Letter From Katsuhime
Letter From Katsuhime was a virtual representation of one of Fujibayashi Naoe's genetic memories, relived through the Animus EGO.[1]
Description
Naoe meets with Rokkaku Katsuhime about recruiting her into the league.
Dialogue
Naoe arrived in Koga. Before heading up the mountain to meet Katsuhime, Naoe spoke to her father Shotei.
- Shotei: Naoe. To my great pleasure, you have returned.
- Naoe: Greetings, my lord.
- Shotei: Naoe. Here to learn more about the mysteries of Koga-ryu?
- Naoe: Actually, I'm looking for your daughter, Katsuhime.
- Shotei: You don't see her? She's standing right beside me.
- Naoe: Huh? Where?
- Shotei: It seems that Koga's powers of invisibility are superior to those of Iga.
- Naoe: Most amusing. I'll find her on my own.
Naoe left Shotei to his drunken rubbles.
- Naoe: If I were Katsuhime, where would I hide? Probably in a gunpowder barrel.
Near the peak of Mount Mikami in The Shimmering Fields, Naoe found Katsuhime standing in front of a tombstone.
- Naoe: Teppo-hime! There you are.
Naoe spoke to her.
- Naoe: Impressive view.
- Katsuhime: It is.

- Naoe: This place... Your mother?
- Katsuhime: My mentor.
- Naoe: Ah.
- Katsuhime: Sugitani Zenjubo. He taught me the teppo.
- Naoe: I shouldn't have intruded. I'll come back.
- Katsuhime: No, no, it is fine. It's just...
- Naoe: What?
- Katsuhime: I need sake for a grave offering... My father drank it all.
- Naoe: He did seem... different. But don't worry. I'll find some.
Naoe traveled down to Kōga to find some sake.
- Naoe: I need to find some sake for Katsuhime.

In the village, Naoe traveled to a destroyed house and found an underground chamber behind the hut.
- Naoe: An underground storage chamber. There could be some sake.
Naoe went down the ladder and found a bottle of sake.
- Naoe: This should make a fine offering for Katsuhime's mentor.
With the sake in hand, Naoe returned back up the mountain and gave the sake to Katsuhime.
- Naoe: You said you wanted to join my Kakushiba ikki?
- Katsuhime: I said I might want to join. Who do I get to kill?
- Naoe: That's not our purpose. We're trying to build a better, more peaceful world.
- Katsuhime: I know, I jest. But look. The Ikko ikki were smashed. Enryakuji was burned to the ground. The daimyo bicker, and the endless wars, well, they never end! So what does your ikki have to offer me—other than a swift and violent death?
- Naoe: Adventure!
- Katsuhime: What kind of adventure?
- Naoe: The kind where you do more than hang around a burnt-out ruin with a wise but somewhat tiresome and possibly drunk old man.

- Katsuhime: All right, Iga-hime. I'll try it out. If you do something for me. Meet me in Wakasa. I have some friends you should meet.
- Naoe: You have friends?
- Katsuhime: Yes, Naoe, I do. The Rokkaku name is known across Omi and beyond.
- Naoe: Yes, the great Rokkaku clan with no castles left. Don't worry, I'll be there.
Outcome
Naoe retrieve sake for Katsuhime's mentor. The marksman agrees to join Naoe's league and asks her to meet her friends in Wakasa.
Behind the scenes
The memory's name is a reference to the Heian period document Letter from Koshigoe, written by commander Minamoto no Yoshitsune.
