The Ascendance Event is the convergence of several specific bloodlines throughout time, usually centered around a Piece of Eden. The underlying explanation is that this event occurs because of Sub-DNA, a part of human DNA which represents the collective human unconsciousness.[1]
Sebastian Monroe, a former employee of Abstergo Industries, discovered that this Sub-DNA code exists in a select group of humans, separate from the primary DNA code, but that it was possibly part of all humans at some point.[1] The Ascendance Event has only been documented a handful of times throughout history and is not well understood, governed by sympathetic genetic forces that are still being decoded.[2]
Currently, a group of teenagers consisting of Owen Meyers, Javier Mondragón, Natalya Aliyev, Sean Molloy and Grace and David Collins contain the entirety of the Sub-DNA code between them, meaning they could, theoretically, access the Ascendance Event through the Animus.[1]
The Ascendance event was originally engineered by Minerva, an Isu entity who used calculations and predictions that the last descendant's ancestors and the Trident of Eden would be drawn together down through the centuries to destroy it. When the six teenagers entered the "collective unconsciousness" simulation they had received a protective "shield" from Minerva to resist the powers of the Trident.[3]
