In Assassin's Creed: Valhalla's downloadable expansion dlc Dawn of Ragnarök Glod makes his first apperance, his depcition in Dawn of ragnarök is very different from the mythalogical Glod described in the Proes Edda. In the Proes Edda glod is the female wife of the fire deity Logi. Though sharing a Jötun background the two characters only share a name and appear to be two different characters all together.
Glöð is a mythical character first introduced in Dawn of Ragnarök, the 2022 downloadable expansion for the 2020 video game Assassin's Creed: Valhalla. In it, Glöð is presented as a son of Surtr, in contrast to what is written in the legendary saga Þorsteins saga Víkingssonar, where Glöð is the wife of Logi, and mother of Eysa and Eimyrja. As the mythical Glöð is also not the daughter of Surtr, being instead the daughter of Grímr and Alvör, the character shares only the name and jötunn background.

According to Leaks found in Assassin's Creed: Valhalla's game files the giant beast that devoured Ivaldi is Glod. Transformed by an unknown mean into a ferocious fire breathing dragon that Odin will face off against in battle later within the same Dlc. It is unknown how it is He transforms into the beast at this point.

Glöð (Runic: ᚴᛚᚬᛏ) was an Isu, being the half-jötnar bastard son of the Muspel leader Surtr.[4]

Biography[edit | edit source]

Invasion of Svartalfheim[edit | edit source]

During the Muspels' invasion of Svartálfaheimr in the lead-up to the Great Catastrophe, Glöð commanded a troop searching for relics hidden underground by the dwarves. Later, his forces captured Ivaldi, who sought to contact other dwarves hidden in Dwarven Shelters, and the surviving dwarves either defected to the Muspel side or were forced into slavery digging for the artifacts.[4]

After the dwarf Fritjof was blinded by a bright light[4] upon recovering the Sunstone,[5] the Muspels brought it back to the seized Hreidmar Palace, where Glöð oversaw the operations. There, he forced the dwarf defector Einar to try and refuel the artifact. After several failed attempts at restarting the artifact, Glöð picked up Einar by the neck and began choking him, only for the Æsir leader Odin to leap at him from the rafters where he had been hiding.[4]

Furious at being interrupted, Glöð threw Einar to the side and fled through a portal with the artifact, but not before destroying the room's floor and making Odin and Einar fall into the Muspel hall below.[4]

Personality and traits[edit | edit source]

Similar to his father, Glöð was a sadistic individual whose appetite for carnage and destruction were standard for any Muspel. Despite being Surtr's son, his own father treated him as nothing more than a machine of war, whereas other Muspels and jötnar treated him as an unwanted outsider from both factions. However, he lacked his father's cunning and leadership abilities, and was very hot-headed. This hot-headedness made him impulsively charge to Odin's location alone instead of bringing backup, and challenge the Æsir leader to a fight. [citation needed]

Skills and equipment[edit | edit source]

As seen in Eivor's visions, Glöð displayed superhuman abilities. In addition to his fire-based abilities, he possessed immense strength, endurance and might that surpassed those of a regular jötnar or Muspel, allowing him to initially overpower Odin, ragdoll Einar, and smash through the floor.[4] In his final fight with Odin, he showed the ability to transform into a giant burning lynx.[1] Glöð was also a capable tracker, being able to find Odin and Ivaldi's hiding location on his own very quickly. [citation needed]

Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]

Glöð is a mythical character first introduced in Dawn of Ragnarök, the 2022 downloadable expansion for the 2020 video game Assassin's Creed: Valhalla. In it, Glöð is presented as a son of Surtr, in contrast to what is written in the legendary saga Þorsteins saga Víkingssonar, where Glöð is the wife of Logi, and mother of Eysa and Eimyrja. As the mythical Glöð is also not the daughter of Surtr, being instead the daughter of Grímr and Alvör, the character shares only the name and jötunn background.[6]
