Naoe and Yasuke pursues the former students of Shōtei, remnants of the Koga-ryu.
Dialogue
Naoe and Yasuke travels to the east of Ōmi to hunt down Mizu, the Godai of Water. They reached the swamp surrounding Mangetsuji Temple, where they came across the site of a massacre.
Naoe:This is mindless klling. Senseless.
She read a note left on the rocks.
An Open Invitation
Dear Jukei, Your penchant for violence continues to impress. It will aid our quest against our former master, the cursed Shotei. The Godai of Earth, Wind, and Fire have much to learn from you. - Rokkaku Yoshimitsu The Godai of Void
Naoe:We have to stop the Godai Shinobi.
At that moment, the Godai of Water made an appearance after throwing a smoke bomb to hinder Naoe's vision and attacked her.
Godai of Water:A demon has struck Weep, O Spring, for Odani Hell greets his return.
Naoe defended against her attacks.
Godai of Water:Do not lurk in the shadows. Come, listen to my dark poetry. Die for Azai. Die for the Godai!
Despite the Godai of Water's fierce attacks, Naoe defeated and killed her.
Naoe:From the waters we are born. To the waters we return.
Naoe and Yasuke next traveled northwest of Sakamoto where they came across a pair of bandits surrounding a rambling beggar outside a hut.
Beggar:A spirit in the flames! Burning!
Outlaw Rogue:I'm out of patience with this one. Shut him up, take his valuables.
Naoe and Yasuke saved the beggar by eliminating the two bandits.
Beggar:Fire! Fire! Why must it burn so? The flames... will consume us all.
The two then spoke to him.
Beggar:The spirits of the dead, wreathed in fire. Burning. Burning!
Naoe:Are you all right? Those bandits, they won't hurt you anymore.
Beggar:The demon gate is collapsed and the dead have returned. They are burning!
Naoe:What did you see?
Beggar:The ghost in smoke and shadow punishes the defilers of Enryakuji!
Naoe:He's not making sense.
Naoe and Yasuke continued northwest, where the came upon a group of bandits talking about the a ghost like the beggar did.
Outlaw Archer:That was a ghost! It's going to kill us for looting this place.
The two of them gave the bandits a spook, prompting the them to attack.
Outlaw Archer:Look. it's the ghost! Kill it!
Outlaw Brute:Back to the burnt tower, you fiend!
The bandits were taken care of swiftly.
Naoe:A burning tower? That could be the work of the Godai of Fire.
Naoe and Yasuke headed up Mount Hiei where the saw the burning tower in the distance. They looked around the surroundings and found the Godai of Fire, Kaji, meditating by a campfire. The monk, having seen them, attacked.
Godai of Fire:Who dares to stand against the Godai of Fire!
Naoe:I do.
Godai of Fire:I forsook the eightfold path. All for vengeance. All for this. When I send you to the hells, you will know what it means to burn. Cursed Igan! May the underworld take you!
Naoe defeated and killed Kaji.
Naoe:Down you go, to the realm of smoke and suffering.
Naoe and Yasuke traveled to Iga to track down Akira, the Godai of Earth. They reached a ruined lumberyard near Otaniimari Shrine where they found the hostile shinobi.
Naoe attacked Akira.
Godai of Earth:I am a man of few words. So I say this. Leave or die.
Naoe:And I have just one word. No.
Naoe defeated and killed Akira.
Naoe:Godai of Earth. That is not how you serve the people.
On the floor in front of the ruined house, they recovered a letter.
Wind to Earth Letter
Earth, I don't trust Void's new masters. Why should we die for the Shinbakufu? My sole purpose is to kill Naoe of Iga. She is a folk hero, but I am the greatest shinobi of the Igan tradition. I am the one who should be adored. Worshiped. Venerated. It is not true that I was expelled from the Iga school. I committed no crimes against the people. I joined the Koga-ryu entirely on my own. For these reasons and her many crimes, Naoe must die. My logic is precise and impeccable - Wind
Naoe:The Godai shinobi are plotting against us.
Naoe and Yasuke returned to Omi on the trail of the next Godai shinobi, Rokkaku Yoshimitsu, the Godai of Void who was Shotei's adopted son. They reached Yoshimitsu's former hideout in the largely destroyed Odani, heavily guarded by a hired group of outlaws. After clearing the area of the outlaws, they found a number of Yoshimitsu's victims hung on crucifixes.
Yasuke:What a horror. Is this be the work of the rogue shinobi?
They followed a trail of blood into a building where they found more bodies and investigated a backpack left on the floor.
Yasuke:Smoke bombs. A shinobi's weapon. But you cannot hide from me.
They found a letter near a katana on a mat.
Odani Ruins Letter
Jukei! Too many travelers passing by, but I kill any who wander near. If you find this, I've already moved to Daikichiji. -Void
Yasuke:The travelers near the ruins. They are in danger. I will find you, Godai.
Naoe and Yasuke left the castle ruins and reached the steps leading to the ruined temple, where the found two merchants who had lost their way.
Merchant 1:We are lost, we must turn back. The shadows around here have knives.
Merchant 2:Nonsense. The Emperor has established a robust system of clearly marked signage. We can't possibly be lost.
Merchant 1:The shadows don't care for your useless signs.
Naoe and Yasuke spoke to them.
Naoe:Tell me about these shadows with knives.
Merchant 1:(yelps) W-who are you? You scared us!
Naoe:A fellow traveler. One who wants to keep the roads safe.
Merchant 1:I saw it! A shadow, or perhaps a man. With weapons. Like a shinobi wields.
Naoe:Where did this "shadow" go?
Merchant 1:Into the hills. There are caves back there. Openings to the netherworld.
Naoe:Thanks. And stick to the road.
Merchant 2:Like she said, we need to get back to the road. But how?
Merchant 1:Simplicity itself! We consult my beautiful hand-drawn map of Wakasa. Now let's see...
Merchant 2:Are we even in the right province?
Naoe and Yasuke went up the steps and entered the temple complex, finding an elderly woman grieving over the death of her husband in front of a bodhisattva statue.
Elderly Woman:'Dear Takumi, are these your things? I fear the worst. I warned you not to go to Daikichiji, didn't I? But you didn't listen. oh dear husband! We will starve without you this winter.
The two reached the far end of the temple and found a network of caves below the cliffs. As they entered the cave, they were ambushed by the Godai of Void.
Godai of Void:I hear you out there. Do you think that you can hide from darkness? This is the cave of darkness. The entrance to the void. Fear not the shadow of death. Embrace it.
After a long fight, Naoe and Yasuke eliminated Rokkaku Yoshimitsu.
Naoe:Now you fade into the mist. To be forgotten.
They read a letter left beside a a stack of rations.
For Void at Odani
It has passed midnight and still the bush warbler sings drowned in its sorrow
The silent Void takes it song no word returns on the wind

They read another letter found near a barrel.
Godai, Hear My Commands!
I have forged a new alliance. The Shinbakufu have hired us to destroy Naoe of Mibuno's faction of the Iga-ryu. Oda Nobunaga's foreign samurai also serves in this rabble. There's rumor my evil step-sister Katsuhime fights with them too. We will crush their bones into powder. We will carve their skulls into drinking goblets. Naoe and Yasuke helped Shōtei to eliminate his former students.
