Naoe and Yasuke travels to Sakamoto on Mount Hiei overlooking the town, where they found Shōtei waiting.
Shotei:You have returned. Are your hands eager? Is your heart strong? Are you ready to take on Akechi Kagemitsu?
Naoe:Yes, I am ready.
Naoe, Yasuke and Shotei observed the castle from afar.
Shotei:Good, we are all here. Let our war against Akechi Kagemitsu begin.
Naoe:Don't you want to know what happened to your daughter at Mount Hiei? She is just as stubborn as you.
Shotei:Kaeru no ko wa kaeru, Naoe. A frog's child is also a frog.
Naoe:A tadpole doesn't look like a frog, but when it grows up... never mind. What's the plan?
Katsuhime:I spotted some gunpowder barrels in the castle.
Katsuhime soon joined them.
Naoe:You changed your mind?
Katsuhime:About helping you. Now, setting those barrels should pull the guards away from our target.
Shotei:There is more to warfare than making things go boom, daughter. Heed my lesson. For one thing, Akechi Kagemitsu is protected by a champion swordsman, Gamo Yoshimitsu. A man not without honor.
Yasuke:I look forward to crossing swords with such a formidable warrior.
Shotei:We must catch Gamo Yoshimitsu alone, away from the Akechi whelp.
Naoe:I'm more interested in fiery booms.
Shotei:Eh, y ou sound like my errant, wrong-headed daughter. Fortunately we need to do both. I will see to Gamo Yoshimitsu.
Naoe:Then we will scout those barrels. Light them up and create a diversion.
Katsuhime:That will leave Akechi Kagemitsu vulnerable in the main keep.
Shotei:Vulnerable. And dead.
The four of them left to begin making preparations. Shotei and Yasuke arrived at the city of Sakamoto.
Shotei:And so it begins. Maybe you should lead the way.
Yasuke and Shotei made their way to the Yoshimitsu Estate. Inside, Yasuke eavesdropped on two ashigaru guards.
Ashigaru Spearman:Enough of this watered-down swill! Bring me Yoshimitsu's best!
Ashigaru Shooter:Ah, his fine Omi brew. You can taste Lake Biwa in every sip.
Ashigaru Spearman:Bring it out! In the name of Lord Mitsuhide, I command it!
He then heard Gamo Yoshitmisu talking to his lover.
Gamo Yoshitmisu:I heard a terrible noise.
Musician:Are we under attack?
Gamo Yoshitmisu:Flee out the back as I go out the front door. I love you.
Yasuke and Shotei entered the hut and confronted Gamo Yoshitmisu.
Yoshitmisu:You are Nobunaga's foreigner! Why are you here?
Yasuke:I am here to fight you.
The two samurai then gathered outside the courtyard, each them fully donning their samurai armor. After they bowed to one another, Yoshitmisu then drew out his katana.
Yoshitmisu:I am Gamo Yoshitmisu, descended of the great Fujiwara, most revered of all clans. The sacred blood of the Nakatomi, children of the kami, flows in our veins! And I will fight you to the death.
Yasuke similarly drew his katana as well.
Yasuke:They call me Yasuke. Lord Oda Nobunaga gave me my sword. I accept your challenge. Samurai against samurai. Blood against blood. To the death.
Yasuke and Yoshitmisu began their duel, with Shotei watching from a corner.
Yoshimitsu:Show me that famous technique, Yasuke.
After a lengthy battle, Yasuke defeated and killed Gamo Yoshimitsu.
Shotei:That is how it should be. One samurai against another. For honor, to the death.
Shotei then joined Yasuke as they look downed on Yoshimitsu's body.
Shotei:An impressive application of Kamiizumi sensei's teachings, Yasuke.
Yasuke:Thank you. Now it is up to the other two.
As Yasuke begin to leave, Shotei spoke to him.
Shotei:Do you... have a daughter, Yasuke?
Yasuke:No.
Shotei:Hmph. I studied archery under the great Yoshida Shigemasa. But will Katsuhime accept my teaching? No, she wields a teppo. She will not marry anyone I propose. I should send her to a Buddhist nunnery!
Yasuke:Marriage or a nunnery, that is not for me to say. But her teppo should serve us well.
Shotei pondered over Yasuke's words. Meanwhile, Naoe and Katsuhime gathered on a dock near the castle keep.
Naoe:Watch where you point that thing.
Katsuhime:What's wrong, Iga-hime? Does my teppo make you nervous?
Naoe:It's not the weapon I fear, but the wielder.
Katsuhime:Still hunt up on that Iga versus Koga thing?
Naoe:Nah, that contest is over. Iga wins, we make a better udon noodle soup.
Katsuhime: (laughs) Anyway. Time to light up the castle.
Naoe:I'll head toward the gunpowder. Cover me with that thing.
Katsuhime:As you command, General Naoe! I'm off to my vantage point.
Naoe:Vanished. Like a true shinobi.
Naoe used the nearby scafolding to enter the castle. She navigated through while eliminate any nearby guards she could find. She also found tools that had been left behind for her.
Naoe:Katsuhime must hae left me some tools behind for me to use.
Naoe managed to locate two explosive barrels and denonate them, killing the nearby soldiers. This alerted Kagmitsu.
Kagemitsu:What's that ruckus, you fools? Stay on alert and catch the intruder! And somebody silence that stupid dog!
Naoe found and destroyed the last explosive barrel.
Naoe:Time to get back to Katsuhime.
She the went to meet up with Katsuhime, who was on a rooftop overlooking the complex.
Naoe:That's done. What are you staring at?
Katsuhime:I miss living on Lake Biwa. Rising at dawn to hunt ducks. Rowing myself through the mist.
Naoe:By yourself? I thoughr you daughters of daimyo were rowed around by your minions.
Katsuhime:Ha, you are jealous because you have no lakes in Iga.
Naoe:We do have lakes.
Katsuhime:i'm not even sure you have rivers up in those hills. No wonder you're all so grubby.
Naoe:Quiet! Or into Lake Biwa you go.
Katsuhime:Only teasing, Iga-hime! I'll cover you from the walls.
As Katsuhime left, Naoe went to meet Shotei and Yasuke at the docks at the east side of the castle.
Yasuke:Where is Katsuhime?
Naoe:Hidden on the walls. She'll give us covering fire.
Shotei:Now for Akechi Kagemitsu. He's in the tenshu, the tallest part of the castle.
The three took a look at the tenshu.
Yasuke:Impressive. So how do we get in?
Shotei:I spoke to the gardener. He used to be my gardener. He promised to leave the gate open for us.
Yasuke:That should be everything.
Naoe and Yasuke sneaked into the gardens, using the bushes and bamboo trees are cover. Meanwhile, Kagemitsu issued orders to men before retreating into the tenshu.
Kagemitsu:Soldiers, stop those explosions! That gunpowder is brand new! And will someone please silence that damn dog!
Yasuke:I will get going.
Naoe:See you on the other side.
Yasuke fought his way through the soldiers and entered the tenshu. Kagemitsu was soon alerted of his arrival.
Akechi Kagemitsu:Guards! Help me! Help me!
Yasuke soon reached the level Kagemitsu was at and attacked him.
Akechi Kagemitsu:Fool! Do you know who I am? My uncle will hear of this!
Despite his resistance, Kagemitsu was defeated and left mortally wounded. Shotei soon joined Yasuke.
Shotei:That is what you get for ambushing me on the bridge, you dishonorable cur.
Akechi Kagemitsu: (groans)
Yasuke:The box! Tell me where to find the box!
Akechi Kagemitsu:Box? What box? You speak madness.
