Eyes on the Future was a virtual representation of one of Fujibayashi Naoe's genetic memories, relived through the Animus EGO.[1]
Description[edit | edit source]
Naoe travels to Makinoodera Temple to find Junjiro, who needed help.
Dialogue[edit | edit source]
After some time away, Naoe returns the temple where she spent time recovering in.
- Naoe: Wasn't sure I'd ever come back here. But not all the memories are bad.
In the complex, Naoe found Junjiro calling for something.
- Junjiro: Mikan? Mikan! (tanuki noises)
Naoe approached him.

- Junjiro: Naoe! I can't find Mikan!
- Naoe: She's around here somewhere.
- Junjiro: I looked in all of Mikan's usual hiding spots. Remember? When we painted her that day? But she wasn't in any of them. Can you find Mikan? I'm sure there are signs of her somewhere.
Naoe looked around and found bits of fur near a fence on the edge of the cliff.
- Naoe: That looks like tanuki fur. Mikan must be nearby.

Naoe looked further and found Tanuki with two of its offspring in the outskirts of the temple.
- Naoe: Ah, there. I think I see her.
Naoe informed Junjiro who came over to look at Mikan and her children. Naoe and Yasuke looked from afar.
- Junjiro:' Mikan! (gasps) Naoe, Yasuke, look! Mikan had babies! Can we take them back with us? Please?! I'll take good care of them, I promise!
- Naoe: Junjiro...
- Junjiro: There are lots of animals at Auntie Tomiko's! Why can't we bring home a few more?
Naoe went over to Junjiro.

- Naoe: it's not that we can't, Junjiro. It's that we shouldn't. I know you love Mikan, but this is her home. And now she's grown up. She has a family of her own. So you have to trust her. Trust that she can take care of herself.
- Junjiro: Ok. But I'm going to name all the mini-Mikans before we leave!
Naoe stood up and returned to Yasuke.
- Naoe: He has a heart too big for his head, that Junjiro.
- Yasuke: He is a good boy.
- Naoe: I have known many such people. Too vulnerable for their good.
- Yasuke: But they are good for the rest of us. He will build a better world atop our ashes. Just like Mikan has.
For a while, Junjiro played with Mikan.
- Junjiro: They're so beautiful Mikan. And they're orange. Like you! I wish I could bring you home with me. But it's okay. You'll be happy growing up here, little tanuki. I was!
Outcome[edit | edit source]
Naoe convinced Junjiro let Mikan and her babies remain in the temple, which serves as their home.
