Mibuno Showdown was a virtual representation of one of Yasuke's genetic memories, relived through the Animus EGO.[1]
Description[edit | edit source]
Yasuke and his lord Oda Nobunaga arrived in Mibuno Castle's courtyard after capturing it.
Dialogue[edit | edit source]
Yasuke arrived at the topmost courtyard of castle.
- Yasuke: (breathes)
However, he arrived to find it empty with no one in sight. His lord Nobunaga arrived shortly after, applauding Yasuke's efforts.
- Nobunaga: My one man army.
Yasuke bowed in gratitude for his lord's praise. Just then, the Iga ikki's leader Momochi Sandayu revealed himself wielding a kusarigama, facing off alone against Nobunaga's men.
- Nobunaga: Oh! The best of the failed rebellion for last.
- Sandayu: Your pride is astonishing. An entire land and its people vanquished for the folly of your son?
- Nobunaga: For the good of our country. For the ambition of his father.
- Sandayu: Too much blood split has warped your mind. You will never see the truth.
- Nobunaga: Oh! Enlighten me, old shinobi.
- Sandayu: And waste my breath? Duel me.
- Nobunaga: (laughs) No. Duels belong in the old world. The old world is dead. This is the way forward.
Nobunaga's ashigaru marksmen took aim with their teppo.
- Sandayu: You will learn nothing in victory, Oda Nobunaga. In your defeat, you will know it all.
- Yasuke: Hold.
Yasuke stepped in, prompting his lord's men to hold fire.
- Yasuke: Allow me to duel him.
- Nobunaga: He is a formidable warrior.
- Yasuke: And so deserving of a warrior's death.
Nobunaga considered his retainer's request.
- Nobunaga: Bring me his head. A gift for my idiot son. (laughs)
The daimyō left the courtyard with his men, leaving Yasuke alone.
- Sandayu: You are not of this land. Yet you fight our battles.
- Yasuke: It is not about land. It runs deeper than that. For both of us.
- Sandayu: So... it does.
Sandayu raised his kusarigama while Yasuke drew his katana. The two soon clashed with one another.
- Sandayu: What keeps your loyalty? See him for what he is!
- Yasuke: He has shown me another side.
- Sandayu: Impossible!
While Yasuke was able to land hits, the shinobi similarly returned with several hits on Yasuke as well.
- Sandayu: Iga was protected. Self-contained. Independent!
- Yasuke: Lord Nobunaga wants to unite you!
- Sandayu: I will die an outsider before living under a tyrant.
After some time, Yasuke defeated Sandayu, who was knocked to the ground, dying.
- Sandayu: What is your name?
- Yasuke: Yasuke.
- Sandayu: You are special, samurai. Not for your skin... for your skill. Your daimyo does not deserve your greatness.
- Yasuke: (scoffs) I am about to kill you, and you praise me?
- Sandayu: You have not killed me yet. I have one more trick... but not the strength to use it.
Sandayu lifted his left wrist and activated his Hidden Blade. Yasuke, upon seeing the blade, sheathed his sword and quickly went to the dying Sandayu.
- Yasuke: Where did you get that? Sandayu! Tell me!
- Sandayu: A girl from Iga with the same blade... trust her. Help her. (gasps)
With his last words, Sandayu died from his wounds.
- Yasuke: Sandayu! Who—
Outcome[edit | edit source]
Yasuke defeated and killed Sandayu, who revealed a Hidden Blade that the samurai had seen before. His last words were to ask Yasuke to look for an Igan girl who possessed the same blade.
