Shinobi Warfare was a virtual representation of one of Fujibayashi Naoe's genetic memories, relived through the Animus EGO.

Description

Naoe followed Matsu out of her home after declaring her intention to help her fellow Igans against Oda Nobunaga's army.

Dialogue

Naoe followed Matsu as they headed into the forest.

• Matsu: Into the forest. To find something I have not seen in many years.
• Naoe: Now? I thought we were going to fight.
• Matsu: Trust me, my Naoe. Now is the perfect time.
• Naoe: They say the Oda clan has the teeth of bears. And the same craving for flesh.
• Matsu: His appetite is never satisfied, that Oda Nobunaga. He sends his son to take down his prey, no doubt.
• Naoe: What does he want? We've done nothing to them!
• Matsu: What they all say they want. Peace. But I would guess the real answer is power. We could be tiny mice in a hole. But within his walls, Oda Nobunaga will not stop his knife until we have stopped scratching.
• Naoe: Then we have to stop him first.
• Matsu: And with your father and Momochi Sandayu, we stand a great chance.
• Naoe: Momochi Sandayu will fight with us? Oda Nobukatsu will be finished by sunrise tomorrow!
• Matsu: By nightfall. Come we are getting close.

They soon reach near a shrine.

• Matsu: Ah! I believe this is the one. Take a closer look at that shrine, there.

As Naoe got closer, she saw something near the shrine.

• Naoe: There's something here.

Naoe reached for the object, revealed to be a katana. Matsu smiled as she watched Naoe recover it.

• Naoe: Is this your katana?

Naoe took the sword out of the sheathe.

• Matsu: I hid it when I thought Iga would see peace for good. How wrong I was. But now... it is yours.
• Naoe: Mine?
• Matsu: Naoe, you are all Nagato has. It is why he protects you so. But when destiny comes to your door, you must answer. Blade first, at times.
• Naoe: Thank you, Auntie Matsu.
• Sandayu: Obaba, it is not safe.

Sandayu came and approached the two ladies.

• Sandayu: You are Nagato and Tsuyu's daughter.
• Naoe: Yes. My name is Naoe.
• Sandayu: The resemblance is striking. Can you fight like your father?
• Naoe: Yes, sir, I can. He has taught me.
• Sandayu: Then today will be your greatest test. When you are ready, get to the edge of Nagano Pass. Stay low. Do not attack until I give the order.

After giving her the instructions, Sandayu left to head to the rendezvous side as Naoe bid him farewell.

• Naoe: Will you be all right? Can you get back home?
• Matsu: YOu told me to rest, but rest is far off yet! Still, I will be fierce.
• Naoe: You're no honey bee. You're a dragonfly.

Matsu showed Naoe the knife in her possession.

• Matsu: I am Igan too, you know.
• Naoe: Goodbye, Auntie. I will be strong.

After bidding Matsu farewell, Naoe left to make her way to Nagano Pass. As she began to climb up the mountain, she noticed the fog clogging up the area.

• Naoe: Oda Nobunaga's men could be anywhere.

As she began to approach the pass, she noticed a few of Nobunaga's scouts in the area.

• Naoe: Best if I remain unseen. Stay hidden.

Naoe crawled into the bushes to cross as two ashigaru soldiers pass by.

• Naoe: They'll kill me if they see me.

She then saw a body of an Igan civilian.

• Naoe: (gasps) No!

With the soldiers gone, she came out of the bushes to inspect the body.

• Naoe: Kagetora? The Oda clan are monsters.

Unable to do anything for him, Naoe continued onwards, where she passed by a rocky path. Just then, a Nobunaga soldier appeared and having noticed her, attacked with his katana. Caught off guard, Naoe drew her katana and tried to block but the soldier's katana strike knocked her sword away. Naoe dodged several of the soldier's attacks before catching him with her hand. She then disarmed the soldier who then proceed to force Naoe to the ground and choke her. Just as she began to suffocate, Naoe reached for her katana and stabbed the soldier, who spilled blood from his mouth and splattered onto Naoe's face. As the soldier died from his wounds and fell down, Naoe pushed his body away. She stood up and looked at the blood on her hands, horrified of what she had done. Unable to wipe the stains away, Naoe looked at the body of the soldier for a moment before recovering her katana.

• Naoe: (breathes) What... what's happening? Why is this happening?

Naoe continued on to the meeting site, crawling in the tall grass to avoid the soldiers.

• Naoe: I begged Father for this? To fight just to kill? What have I done?
  I'm covered in blood.
  No. One of us had to die. I had no choice!

As she moved to another patch of grass, she made a sound which was heard by one of the soldiers.

• Ashigaru Shooter 1: What was that?
• Ashigaru Shooter 2: You're hearing things.
• Naoe: (gasps) Did they hear me?

She then watched as the ashigaru shot and killed an Igan shinobi. She then navigated through different patches of tall grass, seeing more bodies of dead Igan shinobi and reached a wooden path across the river. There, she heard a voice from her opposite direction.

• Naoe: (gasps) Was that Momochi Sandayu?

After crossing the walkway, Naoe continued before reaching another walkway, where she witnessed another Igan assassinating a Nobunaga soldier before disappearing in a cloud of smoke.

• Naoe: If I have to kill again, I'll be ready.

She encountered more of her fellow Igan shinobi and dead soldiers.

• Naoe: I'm getting closer...
  Are they everywhere?

As she reached a broken bridge, she witnessed another shinobi killing a soldier.

• Naoe: Don't look back. Just keep going.

Naoe reached the edge of the pass, where she waited alongside a fellow shinobi. There, she witnessed the arrival of Oda Nobukatsu's army and saw more of the Iga ikki gathering nearby on trees and cliffs, including Sandayu. They Igans observed the army and Nobukatsu as they passed along a bridge. Naoe looked at the shinobi beside her, who prepared his smoke bomb. The other shinobi prepared their smoke bombs as well, signaling their attack was about to begin. Meanwhile, Naoe's father Nagato hid under the bridge with his kusarigama. He readied to use his weapon's iron weight, throwing it to grab the officer at the front of the convoy by his neck. This caused Nobukatsu's army to stop.

• Oda Nobukatsu: Why have we stopped?

With Nagato's move a signal, the shinobi threw their smoke bombs, disorienting the soldiers and loosing arrows with their bows.

• Oda Nobukatsu: What are you waiting for?! Attack! Attack!

Nagato took the officer he caught and threw him over the bridge. At the same time, the ashigaru began firing their teppo against the shinobi.

• Momochi Sandayu: Attack!

The remaining shinobi jumped down from the trees and attacked the soldiers with their katana. Nagato came up onto the bridge and killed the soldiers with his sword, while killing another with his kunai.

• Oda Nobukatsu: Regroup... regroup!

Seeing his men falling one by one, Nobukatsu turned back and fled alongside his aide. Elsewhere, one of his soldiers came up onto the cliff Naoe was on and shot her fellow shinobi. As the soldier used a buttstroke with his teppo, Naoe caught the attack but was then pushed down the cliff, falling into water below.

• Naoe: (grunts) (coughs)

As she resurfaced, she noticed a soldier who finished the shinobi in front of her. The soldier then turned around and noticed her.

• Oda Brute: Lost, are you? Iga should have surrendered.

Naoe drew her katana.

• Naoe: Iga does not know surrender.

Naoe and the soldier began dueling, with Naoe trying to dodge his attacks and land a few hits herself.

• Oda Brute: You can't run from me, girl!

Eventually, thanks to her father's lessons, Naoe was able to defeat and kill the soldier. After the battle was over, Naoe watched the soldier's body in the water, with its blood flowing.

• Nagato: Naoe!

Her father, having saw her, quickly ran to her.

• Naoe: I-I killed him, Father. He was as big as a—
• Nagato: Are you hurt? Answer me!

She looked back at the blood stains on her hands that she had gotten in the beginning.

• Naoe: This is not my blood.
• Nagato: You disobeyed me.
• Sandayu: She obeyed my orders. I asked her to help defend Iga.

Sandayu spoke from afar.

• Nagato: She is my daughter!
• Sandayu: Is she not Igan? Was Iga not attacked?
• Nagato: We had defense enough. Naoe did not do as she was told.
• Naoe: You tell me to stay with Matsu, I stay with Matsu. Momochi Sandayu tells me to defend Iga? I defend Iga!
• Nagato: Naoe...
• Naoe: I do what I am told! I have never done anything less!

Hearing Naoe's words, Nagato can't help but agreed with what she had said. He looked at the body of the soldier she killed.

• Nagato: You killed this man?
• Naoe: Yes.
• Nagato: A formidable foe.
• Sandayu: You have made Iga proud today, Naoe.
• Nagato: It is time to go home. The battle is over.
• Sandayu: The battle is over, my friend, but the war has just begun.

Outcome

Naoe participated in the battle for Iga alongside the ikki, proving herself by killing a soldier on her own, earning praise from her father and Sandayu.
