Having met with Eamon Hathaway, Naoe and Yasuke decide to find the captain responsible for his arrival in the country.
Dialogue
Yasuke:A Black Cross, uh... I will kill as many Templars as they dare send here.
Yasuke explored the town of Yuasa, visiting a tea house where he overheard a drunken rant.
Drunken captain:What is a ship captain without a ship. [hiccups] Like a bird without wings. A fish without gills. [burps] Like a ship captain without sake! I am a nobody. But at least I am not alone. At least I have you, cheap, watered sake. You are my only friend. [hiccups] It's so watered down, I am probably still sober. What a waste of my last mon.
Yasuke entered the teahouse and found the ship captain, who was in a drunken state.
Yasuke:This is going to be challenging.
Naoe joined Yasuke in the teahouse and the two bumped into a drunken patron. As the patron left, Naoe and Yasuke spoke to them captain.
Naoe:Excuse me, would you happen to be a ship captain by any chance?
Drunken captain:Not at this particular moment, no.
Naoe:My friend and I are looking for—
Drunken captain:Look here, lady—my cup is empty... You want to talk? Fill it up.
A slightly irritated Yasuke picked up a crate and used as a stool, sitting across the captain.
Yasuke:How long have you been working for the Templar Order?
Drunken captain: [laugh] Let's play a game. You make a statement, and if true—I drink. If false, you drink... First one to the bottom loses the game but either way, you buy.
Yasuke:Bring it on.
Naoe: [sighs]
Jars of wine were brought to the captain.
Drunken captain:All right, I'll start... You, my friend, are not from Japan!
Yasuke:You are a pirate—and a very bad one at that.
Drunken captain:How dare you. I am no pirate. I am chartered captain. Drink!
Yasuke:You are a Templar...
Drunken captain: [laughs] I am no Templar; my only allegiance is to gold. Drink!
Yasuke took another drink.
Drunken captain:Those Templars paid well but their maps were garbage! And now my ship is wrecked! You can still see her listing on the rocks when traveling the Iseji Trails... My turn: you two have something against Templars, don't you?
Yasuke took another sip.
Yasuke:Now, about your wrecked ship.
Yasuke:You wrecked your ship because you were too drunk!
Drunken captain:I've been drunk since I was a baby [laugh] but you're wrong! Drink!
Yasuke:Their maps were probably decent – you are just bad at reading them!
Drunken captain:I can read maps! But I'll never trust English or Dutch maps again: only the Portuguese know these water half-decently... Drink!
A now slightly drunk Yasuke took a sip as instructed.
Drunken captain:But enough about me! Your gorgeous wife here is probably a terrible cook! [laughs]
Naoe:I am not his wife!
Yasuke: [laughs]
Drunken captain: [laughs] Oh, so she's available?
Naoe:Okay, enough. We have what we want—let's go.
Yasuke:Wait. One more question.
Yasuke:The Templars came here looking for an object...
Drunken captain:Wrong! They are looking for a place!
Being wrong, Yasuke took the final sip from the jar.
Yasuke: [burp] Empty... I am beaten...
Drunken captain: [laughs]
Yasuke:Your Templar passengers came here looking for a place, have they not?
Drunken captain:Oh yes—they're looking all right.
The captain drank from the jar.
Drunken captain: [gulps] Empty...
Yasuke: [laughs]
The captain stood up and prepared to leave the tea house.
Drunken captain:Now if you'll excuse me... Drink goes in, drink goes out! [laughs]
Naoe stopped him from leave.
Naoe:Wait – we need to know more about that place!
As Naoe reached for his shoulder, the still-sober captain caught her arm. A now drunken Yasuke struggled to stand and soon fell down. As Naoe and the captain exchanged looks, Naoe prepared to draw her Hidden Blade but was countered by the captain.
Drunken captain:Stop! Or else...
Naoe:Or else!?
The two fought and the captain was kicked out of the house by Naoe.
Drunken captain:Big mistake, lady... You don't scare Captain Yang!
Yang took out his naginata and fought against Naoe.
Captain Yang:I lost everything—why do you want to take more?!
Naoe:What are Templars looking for?
Naoe landed blows on the captain.
Captain Yang:The more I drink, the less it hurts!
Naoe:Let's put that to the test.
The battle fought to no end, causing Yang to drop his weapon.
Captain Yang:I yield! No more!
Naoe:Are you ready to talk calmly, now?
At this moment, Yasuke was able to maintain his balance and came out of the house.
Captain Yang:Fine—I'll tell you what you want to hear... Eh... What was it you wanted to hear?
Naoe:The place the Templars are looking for?
Captain Yang:Oh, right, right—the old man—Sir Hathaway, he's called—he's been searching for a long time, see... It's a place he called the Obverzk... The Obterze... Hum... Oh—the [[Observatory (Isu)|Observatory!!! That's it, that's what he called it!! A place of mysterious powers—he had a big chest full of documents he kept locked in his cabin—
An arrow came flying in and shot Yang in the eye, killing him.
As the hooded figure attempted to escape, Naoe tossed a kunai that hit and injured the individual. Naoe reached the roof where the individual attacked from and saw trails of blood on the ground.
Naoe:They're bleeding. I can track them.
Naoe got down and followed the tracks.
Naoe:Even injured, they move pretty fast.
She came across a dead soldier with an arrow in his body. Naoe investigated and found the kunai she had thrown at the mysterious attacker. The attacker, a female, taunted Naoe.
Masked killer:This belongs to you.
Naoe continued tracking the trail.
Naoe:There, blood stains.
She tracked it to a warehouse where she found a dog along with another corpse.
Naoe:Ah! It's just a dog.
Masked killer:Why don't you listen and turn back?
Naoe:Why don't you come out and find out?
Naoe investigated a trail of blood on a wall and followed it.
Naoe:Blood. I'm close.
Eventually, she tracked it to a storehouse and spotted a young girl crying out.
Hana:Please, stop! Don't hurt him!
The girl slowly backed away and knocked onto Naoe, who tried to comfort her.
Naoe:It's okay! I'm not going to hurt you.
Masked killer:I told Eamon you two wouldn't listen. He thinks people are reasonable...
The masked killer revealed herself, having held the girl's father by her blade.
Naoe:Let him go.
Masked killer:Listen carefully. This man will bleed out and die in seconds unless you save him.
Naoe:Look, whatever you think you're doing—
The attacker thrusted her blade into the man's lower arm.
The killer released her blade and escaped, forcing Naoe to check on him.
Hana:Father!
Naoe:Hold on, I've got you...
Hana:Help him! Please help him!
Naoe:Hey—Hey! I'm not letting him die, okay?
Hana:O-okay. Okay. Thank you, miss.
Naoe heard Yasuke calling out for her.
Yasuke:Naoe, are you there?
Naoe:In here!
Yasuke shortly arrived.
Yasuke:I tried to keep up, but...
Naoe:She got away.
Yasuke:She... She cut him open just to get away?
Naoe:She has the same cloak as the old man.
Yasuke:Two Black Crosses...
Naoe:Go with my friend, he'll take care of you.
Yasuke:Hey there! Your father is safe now. What is your name?
Hana:Hana. [beat] You are Yasuke, yes?
Yasuke took Hana away to safety as several villagers arrived to assist the injured man. Some time after, Naoe and Yasuke gathered to discuss the events that unraveled.
Naoe:The woman disappeared without leaving a trail... What's our next move?
Yasuke: [sighs] First, I need water… Then we look for Yang's ship: we might find clues in the wreckage.
Naoe:Yang said it could be seen from Iseji Trails!
Yasuke:Who should take point?
Yasuke:I will go. I could use the fresh air.
Naoe:Okay—I'll see that this man is taken care of and join you later.
Outcome
With the masked killer disappearing without a trace, Yasuke and Naoe decide to look for clues in Captain Yang's shipwreck.
