Silica (Silicon dioxide) is a chemical element and a common material found all across Earth.
During the Isu Era silica was mined primarily from areas called Mylnas, in it's natural state silica is a greenish blue crystal but by the use of a silica-enriching device the isu were able to store energy within the crystals turning them a golden yellow color. The crystals were then able to power many different devices like pedestals within vaults and personal weapons such as the Hugr-Rip.
History

At the time of the Muspel Invasion of Svartálfaheimr, Surtr the warlord of the muspels took control of several Mylnas spread across the land. His goal was to collect enough Silica crystals to power the incomplete Shield tower built withing the city of Eitri. He forced the local populace of Dwarves to tripple their production of silica and enforced the people with the help of his children Eysa and Glod. The muspels also took the stolen silica back to their homeland in North Africa.

In Egypt during the reign of king Ptolemy XIII, silica was used as a decorative ornament. The glass-like shards possessed an "eerie feeling" due to their retained charge, and were primarily collected and used by the Medjay Bayek of Siwa to activate pedestals in various Isu vaults connected to certain tombs in the country. Bayek collected 50 silicas at some point to recover an armor belonging to Isu in the vault Eesfet Oon-m'Aa Poo beneath the Great Sphinx of Giza.[1]
The Order of the Ancients member Khaliset also gathered them, believing them to help her resurrect her daughter, Eshe.[2]
in the 9th century, during the viking expansion to england. Eivor Varinsdottir relived the life of Odin through a drug infused dream, in these dreams Odin came across several reflectors made from sillica in both Asgard, Joutenheim and Svartálfaheimr. She later herself encountered a form of the reflectors within the cave of gold while aiding Kassandra to save the people of the Isle of skye.
Usage
Silica having the capability to store energy was a key component in many Isu devices, it helped upgrade the powers gifted to Odin through the Hugr-rip. Its power to contain energy also gave it the property to expand when infused with enough energy, trials done by the Isu Inventor Muuri were succseful having a crystal double in size and the next day it growing to a giant size breaking through the roof of his household.
Pure silica crystals were used as as lenses within reflectors, like a magnifying glass it could divert the stream of light beams to power doors and other devices, such devices were used across the isu lands such as in the Mímisbrunnr and the Cave of Gold. Simmilar devices were used in Atlantis But instead of Silica crystals the Atlanteans used metal plates to reflect light. With its refracting properties it could also be polished and used as a form of lenses within glasses, helping those Isu with farsightedness and nearsightedness.
