The Sunlight Sword was a Japanese ronin and member of the Chinese Brotherhood of Assassins who lived during the Ming dynasty.

In 1543, the Chinese Brotherhood sent the Sunlight Sword to join an Assassin team led by Shao Jun to the Gotō Islands outside Japan. Their mission was to intercept the priest João Machado, a Templar and the Portuguese Jesuit Gaspar Vilela's right-hand man, as he returned to China aboard one of Wang Zhi's pirate ships. Ostensibly tasked with taking possession the ship's cargo of arquebuses, there was also an Apple of Eden present. As the Assassins boarded the ship the Sunlight Sword took enemy fire damaging his samurai armor. The Sunlight Sword is a character introduced in the Assassin's Creed Roleplaying Game. Promotional material originally had him appear in a slightly different version of The Nanban Trade sequence under the name Akira, which among its various meanings includes the word "sunlight".[4]
