Tolui Khan (c. 1191–1232) was Genghis Khan's fourth and youngest son, and was the father of Möngke, Kublai, and Hülegü.[1] During the early Mongol conquests, he served as a prominent general and regent of the Mongol Empire until his brother Ögedei's accession. In the early 13th century, he allied himself with the Assassin turncoat Shengtong, who taught Assassin techniques to monks for him at the Pagoda of Chengtian Temple in China. After Genghis' assassination in 1227, Tolui dispatched mounted troops to find his father's killers.[2]
