Occupied France

Occupied France, officially the Military Administration in France, was an interim occupation government established by Nazi Germany during World War II after their invasion of France in 1940 and specifically Paris in June of the same year. The Nazi administration ruled over the north of the country, while a nominal French government operated from Vichy in the south, though the Nazis would expand to control the entire country by November 1942. The Normandy landings of 1944 began the process of reclaiming France and the occupation fell in August 1944.
