The Hundred Years' War was a series of conflicts waged from 1337 to 1453 between the House of Plantagenet, rulers of England, and the House of Valois, rulers of France, for control of the latter kingdom.

Joan of Arc's influence[edit | edit source]

By 1422, King Henry V of England had died six years prior from dysentery, and King Charles VI of France followed two months later. As a result, the heir to France's throne was muddled with rumors spread by the English and Burgundians. Queen Isabeau of Bavaria was accused of affairs, making Charles VII's legitimacy to the throne questionable.[1]

The peasant girl Jeanne d'Arc joined the conflict on the side of the French, armed with a Sword of Eden. When the Templars discovered this, they had her arrested and burned at the stake to acquire the artifact, although Jeanne secretly survived her execution.[1]
