The Paris Commune was an revolutionary government that was created after the Franco-Prussian War ended with a Prussian victory. For two months, the Parisians revolted against the Third French Republic and wanted the city to be independent, however they were unsuccessful and the revolt was squashed.

The Paris Commune[edit | edit source]

After losing to the Prussians in the Franco-Prussian War, France established the Third French Republic as the successor to the Second French Empire but most of the politicians were pro-monarchy and Paris' National Guards were not keen to follow the new republic's command. Establishing independence, the Commune established progressive laws to better the citizens' lives with merciful punishments, economical benefits, and greater educational for the children. However, their progress came to a halt when the French Army surrounded Paris. With the French Brotherhood aiding the rebels, the British Assassin Pierrette Arnaud helped guard and fend off the soldiers of the French Army.[1]

Aftermath[edit | edit source]

After two months, the defense broke and the French Army overtook Paris and killed the rebels, who fought till the last man. Caught in the crossfire, the young French Assassin Sami Zidane was captured, lined up, and executed along with rebels by a firing squad. The Third French Republic took its place as the new power of France.[1]
