Jargeau is a commune in north-central France.

History[edit | edit source]

On 11 June 1429, Jargeau was the site for one of the clashes between the French and the English during the Hundred Years' War, with the fortified city being held by the Duke of Suffolk. The French, led by Alençon and including Jeanne d'Arc among their ranks, started by clearing the suburbs of English soldiers before giving them the option of yielding.[1] The French managed to overwhelm the English and Suffolk surrended, but his screams were lost in the chaos of the battle.[2]
