Agneta Reider is the current Chief Executive Officer of the Abstergo Financial Group, a subsidary of Abstergo Industries, having been elevated to the position after years of employment as their Chief Financial Officer. She is also a member of the Inner Sanctum of the Templar Order, one of the Templars' main governing bodies.[1]

Biography[edit | edit source]

Inner Sanctum activities[edit | edit source]

In June 2016, Agneta secretly paid a substantial amount of money to the data mining company Newton Analytica to influence the Brexit votes, which resulted in the United Kingdom leaving the European Union in 2020.[2]

In October of that same year, Agneta was present during Simon Hathaway's induction into the Inner Sanctum.[3] Ten days later, Reider was among those who voted to clear Hathaway of all the charges brought against him, convinced by his speech and that his shady actions were in fact carried out for the benefit of the Templar Order.[4]

In March 2017, the Inner Sanctum invited the new Black Cross to a meeting in Quebec, during which Agneta was present. Displeased that he auto-proclaimed himself their inquisitor, they threatened him and demanded to know his identity. The masked man responded that he came only as a courtesy, to inform them that he was investigating a hostile fifth column within the Order. After affirming his independence, the Black Cross dropped a smoke bomb and disappeared.[5]

Involvment in Project Lighthouse[edit | edit source]

At some point, Agneta appointed her right-hand man, Fahad Khan, to head Project Lighthouse, an attempt by Abstergo Financial to covertly take over the Dark Web. Agneta chose not to involve the rest of the Templar Order in the project, keeping her initiative a secret known only to her and Khan.[2]

In late 2019, Agneta attended a "Women in Business" convention at the Four Seasons Hotel in London. While heading to the restroom during the convention dinner, she was unknowingly followed by Aliyah Khan, Fahad's estranged daughter who had recently allied with the Assassins. Ironically, before working with the Assassins, the young woman had viewed Agneta as her personal hero due to her business acumen and leadership skills.[2]

Cornered in the restroom by Aliyah and the Assassin My'shell Lemair, Agneta was interrogated for the whereabouts of Fahad, who had abducted My'shell's fellow Assassin Gavin Banks. Despite being hit repeatedly by My'shell, whose timely arrival rescued Aliyah from Reider's bodyguard, the Templar refused to cooperate. After the two women threatened to expose Agneta's duplicity and clandestine operations to the rest of the Order, Reider finally conceded and revealed that Fahad and Gavin were at the Newton Analytica headquarters, another of her side projects. Aliyah and My'shell then used a taser to incapacitate Agneta, who was left unconscious on the bathroom floor as the two women upheld their promise to spare her if she told them what they wanted to know.[2]

Personality and traits[edit | edit source]

Agneta Reider was a loyal member of the Templar Order and a true believer in its cause, as evidenced by her role in clearing Simon Hathaway's name after hearing his speech about the new direction the Order should adopt in the modern era.[4] Despite this, she was known to conceal certain projects from her fellow Inner Sanctum members, something that could lead to her loyalties being questioned if it was ever discovered.[2]

Agneta possessed a strong will and a resolute personality, making her difficult to intimidate. Even after being physically struck by My'shell Lemair multiple times in an attempt to extract information, Agneta did not break and refused to give in to her enemies' demands. Only once she was blackmailed with the knowledge of her clandestine operations did the Templar finally let her guard down.[2]

Concluding that her personal safety would be at risk if the information was leaked, Agneta reassessed her position and reluctantly shared information about Gavin Banks' whereabouts, despite the significant strategic advantage his capture would have offered the Templar Order. Thus, in a rare moment of weakness, Agneta displayed her true self-serving nature, choosing her own preservation over the Templars' objectives.[2]
