The Battle of Plataia was the final land battle fought in Plataia in 479 BCE during the Second Persian invasion of Greece, between the Achaemenid Empire and the allied Greek poleis.
The battle marked a tremendous victory for the Greeks and effectively ended the Persian invasion of the country.[1] After the battle, the 31 Greek cities which took part in the battle dedicated a golden tripod to Apollo in the Sanctuary of Delphi.[2]
