Romulus (771 BCE – c. 716 BCE) was the legendary founder and first king of Rome. A descendant of the Isu Mars, Romulus and his brother Remus were bequeathed a Sword of Eden by the personification of Mars in the Temple of Laran. During an argument over how to use the artifact, Romulus killed his brother and used the Sword to establish himself as king of the new city of Rome.[1]
Toward the end of his life, Romulus came to value his brother's desire for justice, equality and free will, and saw the corruption that had set root in Rome. In pursuit of a better future for mankind,[2] he founded the Shields of Mars, a group whose values aligned with the later Assassin Brotherhood, opposing the machinations of a secret collective known as the Cult of Uni that served the Isu Juno.[3]
Romulus is also an ancestor to "Mac", a 21st century hacker from Milan and a member of The Crew.[4]
Biography[edit | edit source]
Legacy and influence[edit | edit source]
By the early 16th century, Romulus was worshipped by a cult known as the Followers of Romulus, who believed that Romulus was part wolf and part man.[5][6] The central shrine of the Followers contained what they believed to be the unbreakable armor and dagger of Romulus. However, in truth, the equipment had belonged to Marcus Junius Brutus, and had only been entrusted to the Followers as an icon to worship.[7]
