Naoe and Yasuke visited the Kano Painting School in Kyoto, where they found Eitoku complaining to one of his servants.
Kano Eitoku:What do you mean, "he fled?" He's a mercenary! The danger is why he gets paid. Damn him, damn the war, damn it all!
Servant:Yes, Master Eitoku. Shall I get back to mixing pigments?
Naoe and Yasuke approached the painter, and exchanged greetings with him.
Naoe/Yasuke:You're Kano Eitoku. What does a master artist need with a mercenary?
Kano Eitoku:War, the reason for everything! My wife's work is showcased in the land's finest castles. Castles that are constant targets.
Naoe/Yasuke:War has robbed us all. Of many things.
Kano Eitoku:My family's school has thrived for over one hundred years. At ten years old, I showcased before the Shogun. And now, my greatest works go up in flames. The mercenary was hired to preserve their beauty. Safe from the ugliness of war. But what does it matter? He's fled and all is lost.
Naoe:The world needs beauty. It can't all be battles and blood.
Yasuke:The world needs beauty. It cannot all be battles and blood.
Kano Eitoku:Then... maybe you can retrieve them? If the castles still stand.
Naoe and Yasuke returned to Eitoku after recovering three of his paintings found in the castles they explored.
Kano Eitoku:Tell me. Is my art now ash?
The two took out the paintings and gave it to the painter.
Naoe:These are yours, aren't they?
Kano Eitoku:Some of my best linework! It took weeks to complete. Please do not neglect a single painting! I cannot rest until each one is secure.
