Konan
Konan was a Japanese shinobi and student of Momochi Sandayu who lived in Iga Province during the late Sengoku period.
Biography
In 1560, Konan was a student under Momochi Sandayu and welcomed his new student Fujibayashi Masayasu to his new quarters. While introducing him around the grounds, they spoke about how Masayasu bested Hattori Hanzō and his awe of it. However, Konan wished him the best of luck just as Hanzō walked by them.[1]
However, one night, the training grounds were attacked by former fellow shinobi Toza and his subordinates and the rōnin Kuroiwa Gonjou-rou. Fighting against the rōnin, he was badly injured and retreated into the woods. He soon found Masayasu and told him about being attacked on all sides before fainting from his injuries.[2] Fortunately, he survived the attack while Sandayu's ally Tsuyu managed to kill the shinobi but Gonjou-rou managed to escape despite losing an arm.[3] Meanwhile, Hanzō killed their leader Toza.[4]
The next year, Konan continued to work under Sandayu and helped train his fellow shinobi, such as Hachi-rou, a former ashigaru, who attacked Masayasu's village earlier last year, that became reformed.[5] The following year, he became accompanied with Tsuyu, an Assassin, but wondered her purpose here. Ever since the attack, he noticed both a change in Masayasu and tension between him and Tsuyu during dinner. Nevertheless, he offered Masayasu calming words about Hanzō's mission in Mikawa before leaving him to his own dinner.[6]
