Good for What Ails You was a virtual representation of one of Fujibayashi Naoe's genetic memories, relived through the Animus EGO.[1]
Description
Naoe was sent by Matsu to collect medical supplies in the form of maggots.
Dialogue
Naoe heads south of the Hinotani Shrine, following the road by the river. She soon came across the carcass of a dead horse and collected maggots on the corpse.
- Naoe: Why couldn't I be the one collecting honey? This should be enough maggots for Matsu. Yuck.
Having collected what she needed, Naoe returned to the cabin, where Matsu was already cooking some food.
- Naoe: (sniffs) Something smells good! Please tell me it's not for the maggots.
- Matsu: It is not. Little Murasaki is not injured.
- Naoe: She's not?
- Matsu: Her ojii has been dragging her across the mountains for weeks. Their home was overrun, his wife and her parents killed. (sighs) Poor child. He's going out of his mind trying to protect her, but if he keeps going, he'll drop dead himself.
- Naoe: So she faked her injuries to get him to stop. Smart.
- Matsu: Yes. She is very resourceful. Reminds me of someone, huh?
- Naoe: Then she can collect her own maggots next time.
- Matsu: Go. Check on Yoshiharu. He's the one who could use some care. And don't let on you know about her "injury."
Outcome
Naoe collected the maggots for Matsu, only to learned that little Murasaki was not actually injured but faked it to stop her grandfather from pushing himself to cross the mountains just to get to safety.
