Since this page creation, none of these names are attested to anymore in WP, which has deleted PDW (Feb 2025) and BCW (Sept 2025) for lack of reliable citations, and BSR (Feb 2025) since it's used for Myanmar protests instead

Sei: "That certainly was a trouble-free checkpoint for a country currently in turmoil from a military coup."
Nathan: "I think that's exactly why the army doesn't mess with foreigners. They've already got enough on their plate."
—Shimazu Sei and Nathan Zhang discussing the war, c. 2023.[src]-[m]

The Myanmar civil war (May 2021 – present) is an ongoing civil war in Myanmar, between the ruling State Administration Council and the exiled National Unity Government. It began in May 2021, three months after the coup d'état which placed the country under military rule. The coup itself was the culmination of decades of armed conflicts across Myanmar, which began after the country gained its independence from the British Empire in 1948.[1]

As of 2023, the war had caused all of Myanmar to be deemed an "off limits" area, making travel there extremely dangerous.[2] Despite this, when Shimazu Sei, Noa Kim, Yuki, and Nathan Zhang traveled to Yangon in search of a Piece of Eden housed within the Shwedagon Pagoda, they were able to easily get past a military checkpoint and enter the city. Nathan speculated that, because the military was so preoccupied with the ongoing war, they did not want to mess with foreigners.[3]
