- Kassandra: The Minotaur is a mythical creature—only someone just as mythical could slay it.
- Araxis: ...You're talking about me, right?
- Ankos: The only "myths" about you, little brother, are the ones pater paid to keep quiet.

What Lies Below the Surface was a virtual representation of one of Kassandra's genetic memories, relived by Layla Hassan through the Portable Animus HR-8.5.
Kassandra met with two warrior brothers to defeat the Minotaur.
Kassandra walked over to two warrior brothers, Ankos and Araxis, who appeared ready to slay a Minotaur.
Kassandra sighed.
(Accept – "Let's go.")
They mounted their horses and rode out of Warrior's Rest, chatting.
They rode through Death Gorge to the Cave of the Brave.
They dismounted near the entrance to the cave.
They walked to the cave entrance.
As if in reply, they heard a roar.
The three entered the cave, and Ankos was immediately overcome by cowardice.
A voice roared out at them from the depths of the cave again.
Ankos turned tail and ran out of the cave.
Kassandra and Araxis continued, until the voice roared again.
Araxis turned tail and ran out of the cave.
Kassandra let out an annoyed grunt.
Kassandra continued onward with enough courage for all of Pephka. She spied the pit at the bottom full of corpses and some snakes, which she killed.
She inspected the bodies more carefully.
She continued onward and heard the roar again.
The roar ended in coughing.
Kassandra, unimpressed, continued into the chamber. She placed her hands on her hips as the man-sized Minotaur presented himself.
Kassandra stepped forward with a raised eyebrow.
Three bandits appeared from the side to confront Kassandra. At this point, she'd had enough.
She engaged the bandits as the Minotaur called out to her.
Kassandra finished killing the bandits and made her way to the "Minotaur."
The "Minotaur" took off his mask to reveal a familiar face.
Kassandra crossed her arms.

(Leave – "I've heard enough.")
(Accept – "I'll stand with you.")
Leiandros put his mask back on.
Kassandra confronted the "Minotaur", only to discover it was a ploy by Leiandros, who had been forced to perform the guise with the safety of his daughter at stake. He agreed to fight alongside Kassandra to rescue his daughter.
