Dialogue
Dark Waves, Black Ships
Yasuke travels to the Trading Port in Obama.
- Yasuke: The port of Obama. There might be clues about Duarte here. I will hunt you down and remove your head from your shoulders, bastard.
In one of the buildings, Yasuke found a note on a table.
Signal Instructions
- Samemaru,
Get your men to light the 3 signals around Obama's port and we will come ashore by the beach.
Do not light them unless you're ready, you know the consequences.
I am growing tired of waiting, so I expect them to be lit soon.
- Yasuke: Signals... The ships will look for a signal. I will look around.
Yasuke traveled to the nearby warhouses and eavesdropped on an elderly man talking to a woman.
- Elderly Man: They cannot take me. I am old, withered. I cannot work. Starving is better than living by their rules. I am too old, too weak. it is the young ones who must worry, not me. Not me.
Yasuke found one of the signal fire nearby.
- Yasuke: This must be one of the signals.
Yasuke lit the fire and went to light next the one, located on an islet in the middle of the port.
- Yasuke: One more to light. Then Duarte de Melo is mine.
Yasuke traveled to the last signal fire located the edge of a cliff in the outskirts of the city and lit it up.
- Yasuke: That was the last one. Now I find somewhere to wait.
Yasuke traveled to the small island north of the bay to wait. After some time, he spotted the arrival of Portuguese boats at the meeting point.
- Yasuke: They come. I have you now, Duarte.
My Name is Yasuke
Yasuke got down from his vantage point and approached the Portuguese envoy on the beach.
- Yasuke: That coward is not here. I must find his ship.
Yasuke sneaked into the bushes and eavesdropped on two Portuguese soldiers.
- Portuguese Shooter 1: Look, look! Captain is on the shore, probably talking about the missing shipments.
- Portuguese Shooter 2: Some idiota lit the signals! Hah!
- Portuguese Shooter 1: Bet the captain will have to report back to Senhor Duarte now.
Yasuke attacked the Portuguese soldiers.
- Portuguese Swordsman: Intruder! Kill them before senhor finds out!
The samurai eliminated the soldiers and looted a letter from one of the bodies detailing Duarte's orders.
- Yasuke: Duarte's ship... there is a boatman who can take me to him.
Yasuke went down the road and found the boatman along with two Portuguese guards.
- Portuguese Shooter 3: What? Senhor Duarte is not here?
- Portuguese Shooter 4: Idiota! Do you think he would risk coming so close to shore? You know what happens on his ship, eh? He did this when we moored in the islands to the south. Senhor is a careful man. Cruel, but careful.
Yasuke eliminated the two guards, sparing the boatman.
- Man: Please don't hurt me! Mercy! I have a family to feed!
Yasuke confronted him.
- Yasuke: You! Where is Duarte de Melo? Tell me!
- Man: (gasps) Who are you?
- Yasuke: A monster he helped make. Duarte. Now.
The boatman was forced to take Yasuke to Duarte's ship out in the sea. Onboard, Duarte is torturing one of the slaves who was bounded up.
- Duarte de Melo: What did I say about crying?
Duarte placed his knife near the slave's neck.
- Duarte de Melo: I hate crying.
The slaver proceeded to slash the slave's neck, killing him. Yasuke arrived too late to stop him.
- Yasuke: Stop!
Duarte stood up and turned around to find Yasuke behind him.
- Duarte de Melo: You interrupted play time.
- Yasuke: You remember me.
- Duarte de Melo: I remember your face. I never forget a face... and all the things one can do to it..
- Yasuke: Where is Nuno Caro?
- Duarte de Melo: Even you can make allies, it seems. I received word about my ventures. Foiled by a shinobi. To think they would ally themselves with one of your kind.
- Yasuke: You will speak no more. Not of me, not of my allies.
- Duarte de Melo: Have you come to kill me?
- Yasuke: You remember my face, but today you will remember my name.
Yasuke drew his katana.
- Yasuke: I will make you feel the pain of those you have touched. (roars)
Yasuke begins his fight against Duarte, who wielded a pistol in one hand and a sword in another.
- Duarte de Melo: (grunts) You're trying to kill me? (grunts) (grunts) Curse the idiota who put that weapon in your hands!
Yasuke dealt heavy blows on Duarte.
- Duarte de Melo: (grunts) Such fire, (grunts) such anger! (laughs)
Ultimately, Yasuke overpowered Duarte, pinning him against the railing and holding his sword by his neck.
- Duarte de Melo: (grunts) How does it feel?
- Yasuke: Shut your damned mouth.
- Duarte de Melo: Revenge is dull. Just like death.
- Yasuke: Where is your master? Where is Nuno Caro?
- Duarte de Melo: Who wants to know?
- Yasuke: Where. Is. Nuno. Caro.
- Duarte de Melo: You are no one. A sad, nameless nothing who thinks they stand for something.
An angered Yasuke took his hands off Duarte and turned around.
- Duarte de Melo: You are simple, boring, predictable, dull. Just. Like. Her. (laughs)
- Yasuke: (breathes)
Duarte's words sparked a memory in Yasuke's mind, reminding him of his past.
- Yasuke: (breathes)
- Duarte de Melo: Filfth like you does not deserve a name. (spits)
Duarte secretly took out a knife from his pocket.
- Duarte de Melo: (laughs)
- Yasuke: My name is Yasuke. (grunts)
Before Duarte could strike, Yasuke took his sword and swung it towards Duarte's neck, killing him.
- Yasuke: (spits)
On his body, Duarte looted a note and promptly departed, with the boatman from earlier taking him back to the port of Obama.
- Yasuke: Go. There is nothing left for you here.
As the boatman left, Yasuke inspected the note engraved with a symbol on it.
The Path He Walks
Yasuke arrived at the Jesuit Residences in Kyoto, where he met his former associate Luís Fróis at the pond.
- Luis Frois: Do my eyes deceive me? Diogo, is that you, my friend?
- Yasuke: (laughs) I am called Yasuke now, Luis.
- Luis Frois: (laughs) Right! It will take some time for me to get used to that.
Frois approached Yasuke.
- Luis Frois: Time has robbed us of each other, my friend. I had hoped dearly that we would meet again.
- Yasuke: I feel the same.
- Luis Frois: We did not talk much when we last met. Circumstances were difficult, so to speak. But look at you now - samurai in your own right! To think this is your reality.
- Yasuke: Hm. Much has happened since.
- Luis Frois: I will not tell you lies. Things have been trying since Lord Nobunaga's death. The realm is unbalanced, and no one knows from which direction the next army will come. But I have been keeping above ground. Oh! I have also been hearing rumor of an interesting duo, a shinobi and a samurai, causing no small chaos in this land.
- Yasuke: (laughs) After Lord Nobunaga's death, I have been running with a band of... allies, you could say. We are a varied mix, but we share ideals.
- Luis Frois: It is tragic how he left us. (sighs) To put your trust in the wrong hands...
- Yasuke: I will forever be indebted to Lord Nobunaga, he who honored me. At the very least, he found death the way he wanted to.
- Luis Frois: As much as we wish to be the masters of our fate, Christ has his own grand designs.
Yasuke followed Frois to a tree by the pond.
- Luis Frois: Why have you come to me? I take your return to Kyoto as no coincidence.
Yasuke took out the letter he recovered from Duarte de Melo and handed it over to Frois to read.
- Yasuke: I found a letter. I cannot fully understand it, so I was hoping you could tell me.
- Luis Frois: It is an oath to the Templar Order.
- Yasuke: You know them.
- Luis Frois: Sim. I have heard of them when I was in Italy. The Pope and three great houses were involved. The House of Borgia was one of them, a prominent noble family. They caused a lot of turmoil in Rome. Their thirst for power nearly ruined the city. I was there before I worked with Valignano.
- Yasuke: What happened to them?
- Luis Frois: Eradicated, mysteriously. They say a secret organization put an end to their conspiracies, but not much is known. This letter is addressed to Duarte de Melo. Does this name mean anything to you?
- Yasuke: He was a slaver. Someone who did not deserve the mercy of death.
- Luis Frois: What happened to him?
- Yasuke: I ended his life.
- Luis Frois: Was he someone you knew?
- Yasuke: He was someone from my past. Another demon.
- Luis Frois: It says here that someone called Kimura Kei is training a group of secret warriors at a school in Kii. They will serve someone called... Nuno Caro.
- Yasuke: Caro.
- Luis Frois: You know this name?
- Yasuke: I worked for him. Before you and I met.
- Luis Frois: Ah, I remember when we pulled you out! That piece of wood you were drifting on was at the end of its life.
- Yasuke: It is good that you found me Luis. Let us leave it at that.
- Luis Frois: Even more fortunate for us. You were a great asset to Valignano. You've never painted a clear picture of how you were left floating in the open sea as you were.
- Yasuke: I was on a ship with a few others. It was destroyed.
- Luis Frois: Well, safe to surmise that this Duarte de Melo, and Nuno Caro, are part of the Templar Order.
- Yasuke: Hm. Then I must find this Kimura Kei.
Fighting for the Cause
Yasuke arrived at Takahara Village in Kii.
- Yasuke: According to Luís Fróis, the hunt for Kimura Kei starts here. I need to find his hidden training grounds.
After a short while, Yasuke found himself outside an inn.
- Yasuke: Perhaps I will find answers in there. Sake has a habit of loosening tongues.
Yasuke eavesdropped on two rōnin outside the inn.
- Ronin 1: When my lord still breathed, I had purpose. Now, I have only shame.
- Ronin 2: I hear talk of a man who wanders the burial grounds. Offers fresh hope to those who want it.
He then entered and found a seated rōnin wearing robes bearing the Oda clan's kamon.
- Yasuke: A warrior of the Oda clan.
Yasuke spoke to him.
- Yasuke: Judging by the attire, you once served the Oda clan.
The rōnin stood up to properly talk to Yasuke.
- Oda Ronin: As did you. Yasuke is a name that needs no introduction. Even if you were to wander these lands naked.
- Yasuke: (chuckles) Clothed or unclothed, without Lord Nobunaga's intervention, I might well be a distant memory by now.
- Oda Ronin: I could say the same. Yet, I often find myself questioning if I am truly here.
- Yasuke: You stand before me. Is that not proof of life?
- Oda Ronin: I stand, I speak, I breathe... these are functions of the body, not the spirit.
- Yasuke: I forge my own path, with the hoping of bringing a measure of peace. Our lord may have departed, but his legacy endures.
- Oda Ronin: Lord Hashiba Hideyoshi?
- Yasuke: A worthy successor. Or so we must hope.
- Oda Ronin: Indeed. And what brings you here?
- Yasuke: I seek the one they call Kimura Kei. Do you know him?
- Oda Ronin: By reputation only. There's a man in his service. Kumabe Ujiie. He recruits rōnin at a cemetery at Koyasan.
- Yasuke: What kind of a man is he?
- Oda Ronin: More of a talker than a fighter. As is the case with such men, his words shouldn't be trusted, yet... might prove useful nevertheless.
- Yasuke: Thank you for your help.
- Oda Ronin: Caution, Yasuke. They say Kimura Kei creates a new breed of warrior. Upon his order, these men will attack without hesitation.
- Yasuke: Should they do so in my presence, it would be an unfortunate mistake.
Yasuke left the inn and traveled to Koyasan. Reaching the Okunoin Cemetery, he found a large gathering of rōnin.
- Yasuke: Kumabe Ujiie should be close. I will walk among the rōnin. See if I can find him.
He eavesdropped on a nearby pair of rōnin after crossing a bridge.
- Ronin Staffmaster 1: Surely no one had a better command of cavalry than Lord Uesugi Kenshin.
- Ronin 3: After Kawanakajima, I suspect the Takeda clan would agree.
He found a rōnin kneeling before a gravestone.
- Ronin 4: I am lost, my lord. Our clan, a mere shadow. The shame I feel... unbearable.
Opposite him, Yasuke found two rōnin that had served the Asakura clan kneeling at another gravestone.
- Samurai 1: I still grieve Lord Yoshikage's passing. Without his guidance, life has no meaning.
- Samurai 2: I hear there is a man who recruits the forsaken. Offers fresh hope.
- Samurai 1: With our lord gone, our clan is a waning dream.
- Samurai 2: We should find Kumabe Ujiie and hear him out properly this time.
- Yasuke: They are men of courage, honor, and loyalty. It pains me to witness so much squandered potential.
Nearby, two rōnin in samurai armor discussed their service under Takeda Shingen.
- Ronin 5: Remember Mikatagahara, serving under Lord Shingen?
- Ronin 6: We were true Takeda that day. The Oda and Tokugawa clans stood no chance.
After looking around for a while, Yasuke found that a shrine had been erected for Nobunaga.
- Yasuke: It is too soon for Lord Nobunaga to have a shrine here... In his absence, I can make use of this one to catch the eye of Kumabe Ujiie.
Near Nobunaga's shrine, Yasuke found a rōnin praying in front of a shrine for Shingen.
- Ronin 7: Lord Shingen, your valor was unmatched. Our clan lost a true leader.
- Yasuke: The grief, the shame, the hopelessness.
Behind the Nobunaga shrine, Yasuke eavesdropped on two samurai who served the Mori clan.
- Samurai Duelist: Lord Motonari was unrivaled in cunning and courage.
- Ronin Staffmaster 2: At Miyajima, the enemies of the Mori met their match.
Yasuke went back down and prayed in front of the shrine to Nobunaga.
- Yasuke: My lord, your vision and courage guide us still. The wisdom you impaired and the battles we faced together have deeply shaped me. As your humble servant, I am forever grateful and honored to have served alongside you.
As he expected, Ujiie arrived and took notice of him.
- Ujiie: Can that be Oda Nobunaga's famous giant?
Yasuke spoke to him.
- Yasuke: You know me. But who are you?
- Ujiie: A humble purveyor of hope. Kumabe Ujiie. At your most esteemed service. I serve a most illustrious lord. The legend, Kimura Kei.
- Yasuke: I have not heard of him.
- Ujiie: He's a seeker of lost souls. Men of substance, now adrift, drowning in their shame. He offers the guidance they yearn for.
- Yasuke: I am one such seeker of guidance. I would like to meet this Kimura Kei.
- Ujiie: Good, good. Come with me. I will show you the way to enlightenment.
Yasuke followed Ujiie and his guards.
- Yasuke: Is Lord Kei here?
- Ujiie: You will soon know. Come. We will gather the rest.
- Yasuke: So many rōnin join Lord Kei's cause.
- Ujiie: Lord Kei does not only welcome former samurai. He accepts all warriors eager to learn. Be they ashigaru... or foreigner.
- Yasuke: From whom does your lord take his commands?
- Ujiie: There's some southern barbarian he answers to. Of fairer complexion than you. But that arrangement is a mere formality. Lord Kei is independent in his efforts.
- Yasuke: Why would he ally himself with a foreigner, then?
- Ujiie: His actions do not always seem agreeable to his allies, but soon you will witness the success of his methods. He believes in the cause, not its foreign advocates.
Ujiie's group met up with more rōnin.
- Ujiie: Here you are. Follow me.
Yasuke continued following Ujiie's group while asking more questions.
- Yasuke: You claim Lord Kei plans a coup against his commander. Does he not fear the consequences if his plans go awry?
- Ujiie: Lord Kei is a stranger to fear. He once sacrificed the eldest of his two daughters in exchange for victory.
- Yasuke: His youngest must worry what will become of her future. As for Lord Kei, he sounds formidable.
- Ujiie: Indeed. He possesses an unwavering conviction and a resolute purpose.
- Yasuke: And what does he hope to achieve?
- Ujiie: Control. Order. Discipline. Unlike Nobunaga, Lord Kei does not hide what he is. He embraces it.
The group reached more rōnin who wished to join Ujiie's group.
- Ujiie: Sorry to keep you waiting. This way.
Ujiie's group soon reaching the assembly point, where he addressed the group of eager recruits, including Yasuke.
- Ujiie: Let us commence. I see potential in each of you. The road ahead is challenging, but with hard work, you may one day join the ranks of the Saiseisha. To get to the training ground, head southwest. May your dedication and discipline guide you to greatness.
As the group scattered, Yasuke reflected on what had transpired.
- Yasuke: Perhaps Kimura Kei can guide me to Nuno Caro. He is no better than Duarte de Melo. Another power-hungry man willing to go to any lengths to expand his influence. No matter the cost.
Yasuke left the cemetery and headed southwest to the training ground.
- Yasuke: Unlike others in the Templar Order, Kimura Kei is of this land. Perhaps I can talk sense into him.
He arrived at the wooden gate and spoke to the guard behind the gate.
- Yasuke: Kumba Ujiie sent me.
As the door opened, he entered and greeted the guard.
- Ashigaru Swordsman 1: Enter and wait for the others. Kumura Kei will welcome you soon.
Yasuke waited with the other keen prospects. As morning came, Yasuke stood up and eavesdropped on two participants.
- Ashigaru Swordsman 2: Master Kei is about to start. Let us go with the others.
Yasuke followed the guards and found Kei speaking to the crowd of recruits at the Hibuse Fudo Temple.
- Kei: You are without ties. Without a lord to serve. You hold no lands. You are dishonored. You are rōnin. This very moment marks the dawn of your new beginning. You become part of the Templar Order. The sole hope in these troubled times. I am Kimura Kei. Learn from me. Fine armor like mine is not a gift. You must strive for it. Earn it. And through this reforging, I will make you stronger. More formidable. Under my guidance, you will reclaim your lands. Restore your honor. Become a samurai once more. Samurai of the Templar Order.
He noticed Yasuke joining in the crowd.
- Kei: Look who's here. A dead man's pet.
The crowd turned to look at Yasuke.
- Yasuke: Lord Kei has led you astray. The path he follows is flawed. If you could only see the dark truth of where it leads.
- Kei: Now, your lesson begins. This man is my enemy. Make him your enemy. Kill him.
The crowd of ashigaru and bandits obeyed and attacked Yasuke.
- Ashigaru Swordsman 3: (roars) Kill him!
Yasuke was forced to defend himself against the crowd.
- Yasuke: Your leader lies to you!
After a long fight, he emerged victorious and continued his way up the stairs, encountering more attackers that included sōhei and Portuguese soldiers.
- Warrior Monk: No mercy!
After eliminating them, he went behind the temple complex and found more pursuers.
- Samurai Brute: Attack!
- Yasuke: Stop this!
- Outlaw Brute: (roars)
- Yasuke: This bloodshed is needless!
Emerging victorious, Yasuke passed through the temple tower and reached an area of the complex that had collapsed, where he found more of Kei's followers.
- Samurai Tactician: No retreat!
- Yasuke: Kimura Kei does not care for you!
After eliminating them, Yasuke headed to the building in front and was greeted with more attackers.
- Samurai Spearman: (roars)
Yasuke took them down and pushed past the door to the other side of the complex.
- Yasuke: How many more lives must fall to your cause, Kei?
Yasuke navigated through the complex and reached the inner temple, where he was confronted by Kei's personal guards consisting of three Saisesha rōnin.
- Saisesha Ronin 1: Remember our training!
- Saisesha Ronin 2: Show him our skill!
- Saisesha Ronin 3: Precision!
- Saisesha Ronin 1: Outflank him!
- Saisesha Ronin 2: Careful!
- Saisesha Ronin 3: Tactics win battles!
- Yasuke: So does experience!
After a difficult fight, Yasuke managed to eliminate the bodyguards.
- Yasuke: Enough of our games. Face me!
Yasuke entered the temple and confronted Kei, who was clad in his samurai armor.
- Kei: You cannot stop me, Yasuke. You are ignorant of the Templars. Of this world.
- Yasuke: Spoken by a traitor to his own land.
- Kei: My land robbed me of purpose! The Templars restored it.
- Yasuke: You lead your people into servitude.
- Kei: This from the fool who followed Nobunaga? He gave you freedom? His death gave you freedom. Now you waste it on childish vendettas.
- Yasuke: You refuse to see the true face of Nuno Caro and men of his kind.
- Kei: You know nothing of them.
- Yasuke: I know them all too well.
Yasuke remembered flashbacks of his treatment by Nuno Caro aboard his ship.
- Yasuke: Monsters. That is who you serve.
- Kei: Lies!
Kei kicked a lamp down to the floor, lighting the ground on fire. He then drew his sword and attacked Yasuke.
- Kei: Rulers of this land betray us both! They don't deserve loyalty.
- Yasuke: Nuno Caro is no better!
Yasuke was able to strip Kei of his armor.
- Kei: Impressive! But the fight has only just begun.
Kei drew out his katana, now fighting with a pair of swords in his hand.
- Kei: You waste your talents!
Despite Kei putting on a fight, Yasuke managed to disarm him and break one of his swords. After punching him several times, Yasuke kicked him through the door to the outside of the temple.
- Kei: (roars)
- Yasuke: Your cause is my target, Kei, not you. Abandon it and live.
- Kei: You destroy everything I work for, then demand my surrender?
Kei made a final stand against Yasuke, attacking him with his broken blade. Despite his efforts, he could not match Yasuke's prowess and was ultimately defeated. He was then left in a kneeling position.
- Kei: You win nothing here, Yasuke. Vengeance will find you.
- Yasuke: From Nuno Caro? He is next.
- Kei: Not him. Others. My people.
- Yasuke: I will be waiting. Where is Caro?
- Kei: You will not learn it from me.
- Yasuke: (sighs)
- Kei: You have defeated me today. My fine armor is yours to claim. But do not mistake my intentions. I sought... I sought a better future.
Yasuke got behind Kei and readied his sword.
- Kei: My dream dies with me. But the fight for what I believe in will endure. Get on with it.
Yasuke drew his sword and executed Kei.
- Kei: (gurgles)
Kei's body fell to the ground.
- Yasuke: Kei spoke of vengeance. I should respect his threats. Stay vigilant. Still, the Templars have suffered a blow. Kimura Kei is dead, and their aspiring army lies in ruins. As for Cardo... Kimura Kei's correspondence tracks to this "Silver Queen." She pays an important part in their plot but seems no warrior. She might be more willing to cooperate.
The Silver Queen
Yasuke travels to the outskirts of Tada in Tamba and spoke to his spy contact who was posing as a beggar.
- Beggar: Yasuke, the Silver Queen is somewhere in Tada Silver Mine. A young woman, noble background. This place is heavily guarded. Surely I could help.
- Yasuke: Go home, my friend. I will take it from here.
The spy obeyed Yasuke's orders and left. The samurai then made his way to the town, passing by a pair of Portuguese guards.
- Portuguese Swordsman 1: I do not believe it. That is him, right? Oda's giant?
- Portuguese Swordsman 2: It has to be. What do we do?
- Portuguese Swordsman 1: Nothing. For now.
Entering the town, he found his target speaking to two guards.
- Portuguese Swordsman 3: He is displeased, my lady. He says you promised the miners would speed up their efforts.
- Silver Queen: And he promised his guards would behave. I have bruises on multiple workers that suggest otherwise. The failure to comply lies with you and your guards. Not me, and certainly not a group of tired, overworked miners.
- Portuguese Shooter: He's going to ask us to come to you again. You know these miners only listen to you.
- Silver Queen: This is entirely within your control. Are you not your own man? (sighs) I will talk to the miners. We will fulfill our obligations, including you. Run back and tell him to keep his men on a tighter leash.
- Portuguese Swordsman 3: Of course, "Silver Queen."
The guards noticed Yasuke listening nearby.
- Portuguese Swordsman 3: It is him. We should go now.
As the guards departed, Yasuke approached and spoke to the Silver Queen.
- Yasuke: You are the Silver Queen?
Yasuke greeted with a bow.
- Yasuke: I am Yasuke.
- Silver Queen: I know who you are. It's not safe here. He is everywhere. And always watching.
- Yasuke: And where might he be?
- Silver Queen: Follow me to my house. We will talk there.
Yasuke followed the noble lady, asking her questions as they walked.
- Yasuke: Why do you help these nanban soldiers?
- Silver Queen: It is complicated. We will leave it as such for now.
- Yasuke: I have a skill for un-complicating such matters.
- Silver Queen: There are problems that cannot be resolved with the swing of a blade.
- Yasuke: Perhaps. But it is a good place to start.
After a short while, they reached the Silver Queen's house and took a seat. The lady served Yasuke a cup of tea that she made, which he drank.
- Hosokawa Tama: My name is Hosokawa Tama. The westerners call me Silver Queen. Not by my choice.
- Yasuke: You run the silver trade for these Westerners. Also not by choice, I am assuming.
- Hosokawa Tama: As I said, I know who you are. But I do not know you. Why did you come here?
- Yasuke: A Portuguese man bearing a cross-shaped pendant.
- Hosokawa Tama: What will you do when you find him?
- Yasuke: It is simple. He must die.
- Hosokawa Tama: And you believe this is possible?
- Yasuke: I need to find him.
- Hosokawa Tama: If you know this man, then you also know what he is capable of.
- Yasuke: My lady. If you requested my presence here, that means you know what I am capable of. Tell me where he is. I can help you. I swear it.
- Hosokawa Tama: I... I did not ask you here for help.
- Yasuke: Then... why... why did...
Yasuke started feeling unwell.
- Hosokawa Tama: I have my orders.
- Yasuke: You... what...?
Realizing his drink had been spiked, Yasuke stood up and was confronted by a silhouette which he recognised as Caro.
- Yasuke: Nuno... Caro.
Just as he tried to draw his sword, Yasuke fell to the ground, losing his conscious.
- Nuno Caro: Oda's giant. You made things difficult for me. You and that shinobi. Killing the Shinbakufu, fine, I get it. But then, de Melo? And... him, that Japanese fellow? I took offense. And notice.
- Yasuke: It is you...
Yasuke struggled to get back up.
- Nuno Caro: The girl from Iga is a bit harder to find. You? Not so much.
- Yasuke: (breathes) Bastard...
- Nuno Caro: And now I hear you're interested in finding me. Very few people are supposed to know who I am. You look familiar.
- Yasuke: I will kill you...
- Nuno Caro: What was that? Probably unimportant. Tnank you, Silver Queen, for your service. One less problem for us. This man and his partner ran down Lord Mitsuhide. He watched as that yokel child delivered the most undignified death to your father.
Realization hit Yasuke that Tama was the daughter of Lord Mitsuhide.
- Hosokawa Tama: Let me finish him off. For what he did to my father.
- Nuno Caro: Well. There's Mitsuhide's spirit! Who am I to deny you vengeance? Progress has slowed recently. You will fix this, yes? A favor for a favor.
- Hosokawa Tama: You will have what is yours.
Caro handed a pistol to Tama.
- Nuno Caro: For your troubles. My lady.
Caro then took his leave as Tama took a good look at Yasuke, who then slowly lost conscious. After some time, Yasuke woke up and found himself still alive in a room alongside Hosokawa Tama.
- Yasuke: Daughter of Mitsuhide. You poisoned me.
As Yasuke stood up, Tama pointed her pistol at him.
- Hosokawa Tama: Do not speak. Listen. You're supposed to be dead. Before Honnoji, my father sent my brother and me here as collateral. A gesture of good faith to the nanban invaders. Now, Caro scrapes this land clean. The silver will run out, as will my brother's usefulness. And mine. My father thought he could protect us. That he would return soon. You ensured that would not happen.
- Yasuke: And yet, I am still breathing. Why?
- Hosokawa Tama: What you said about helping me. I believed you. Was I wrong to?
- Yasuke: Will you give me Caro?
- Hosokawa Tama: My terms first. Will you help me?
- Yasuke: A samurai keeps their word.
With Yasuke giving his word, Tama put down her pistol.
- Hosokawa Tama: Caro hides behind those who would do his bidding. Your spies found me. They won't find him. His men hold my brother Mitsuyoshi to ensure my cooperation. In Kameyama Castle, north of here. He is the only family I have left. Help me take him away from this place. You do this for me and I will give you what you want. Who you want.
Yasuke nodded to Tama's request and stopped her as she was about to leave.
- Yasuke: No. We cannot be seen together. I am supposed to be dead.
- Hosokawa Tama: I can get you into Kameyama.
- Yasuke: No. If you will offer up Caro as you said, there is little that stands between me and your brother.
- Hosokawa Tama: Who is Caro to you? If I am to step aside, I need assurances.
- Yasuke: It was... a long time aog. Or it felt like a long time ago. He took something from me. He and his people.
- Hosokawa Tama: And you hope to get it back? From him.
- Yasuke: I gain nothing from betraying you. I will bring your brother to you unscathed.
- Hosokawa Tama: Atago Shrine. Meet me there once you've freed Mitsuyoshi.
Tama tries to hand the pistol over to Yasuke, but was rejected. As they part with a bow, Tama then took her leave first as Yasuke suggested. With Tama gone, Yasuke then rammed his way out of the room and was found by the guards.
- Guard 1: Caro wanted the samurai dead. The girl didn't follow his orders.
- Guard 2: Then she will find out what happens. To her and to her brother.
After dispatching the guards, Yasuke made his way to the exit and was confronted by more guards.
- Guard 3: You won't escape us, samurai!
Despite their resistance, Yasuke defeated and managed to escape to safety.
- Yasuke: Kameyama's Castle lies to the north.
