Odin's Vault was an Isu vault located beneath Dunwic fort in East Anglia,[1] that held the armor of Hildr, a Valkyrie whom Odin had forcibly turned human. The vault could only be found using Odin's Eye, an Isu compass housed in Freyja's Cave in a hillside near Ravensthorpe, Ledecestrescire,[2] and opened with Freya's medallion, passed down among Hildr's descendants.[1]
History
In the late 9th century CE, Hildiran convinced Eivor Varinsdottir to open Freya's Cave and give her Odin's Eye, cryptically saying that it would lead them to greater treasures housed in Odin's Vault.[2] Once there, the two women found that they were unable to open the vault yet, so Hildiran instructed Eivor to fill Freya's medallion with energy by meditating at several Shrines of the Valkyrie. After the Viking did so, she and Hildiran entered the vault, only for the latter to betray Eivor and steal Hildr's armor.[1]
Hildiran then transported herself and Eivor to Hugrheim in an attempt to achieve her family's ancestral vengeance against Odin, who had been reincarnated as Eivor. However, the Viking ultimately prevailed and, after the two returned to the real world, Hildiran told Eivor about Hildr and Odin's history. She then apologized to the Viking, recognizing that she was much wiser than Odin had ever been, and pledged loyalty to her. With that, the two women left the now-empty vault and returned to Ravensthorpe.[1]
