The Siege of Boston (19 April 1775 – 17 March 1776) was a battle of the American Revolutionary War, beginning after the Battles of Lexington and Concord.
History[edit | edit source]
When the siege began in 1775, Governor Thomas Gage ordered that the fortifications on the Boston Neck be expanded and strengthened, earning them the nickname of "Gage's Lines".[1] The Colonial Assassin Ratonhnhaké:ton later sent his recruits to help General Henry Knox transport cannons from Fort Ticonderoga, New York,[2] to Dorchester Heights, Boston, thus ending the siege of the city.[3]
