You cannot know anything. Only suspect.

This article contains content from pre-release sources that may or may not be reflective of canon upon release. This article therefore likely contains spoilers.

This article is about the NASA engineer. You may be looking for the Colonial Templar.
Samuel Smith in his office

Doctor Samuel Smith is an engineer working with astromaterials at the NASA Johnson Space Center facility in Houston, Texas. The son of a US intelligence agent, Smith grew up in a household that valued discipline, integrity, and strong work ethics, which pushed him to succeed. Smith followed his interested in space exploration, earning a doctorate from MIT at a young age and getting his first job at NASA soon after.[1]

At some point before 2016, Smith acquired a Shard of Eden at an auction for meteorites and objects made of exotic minerals. Completely unware of the origin of the artifact or its properties, he used the Sword of Mars' pommel as a paperweight in his office. In 2016, the Crew infiltrated the building his office was in and managed to distract Smith long enough to steal the Shard before leaving the facility.[1]

Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]

While the Assassin's Creed Roleplaying Game notes that Samuel Smith has no connection to the Templars or any other secret society, it also introduces the option to change that possibly making him a Templar leader or even a descendant of the SS Sturmbannführer Heinz Müller in order to add more intrigue into "The Sword of Mars" campaign.
