Way of the Bo was a virtual representation of one of Fujibayashi Naoe's genetic memories, relived through the Animus EGO.[1]
Description[edit | edit source]
Naoe went to meet with the bō master Taguchi Myoga in order to retrieve Tsuyu's key.
Dialogue[edit | edit source]
Naoe arrived at the Kannoji Temple in the west of Sumoto.
- Naoe: Tsuyu said the bo master should be around here.
After exploring the grounds around the temple, Naoe found the master training a student under a giant tree.
- Taguchi Myoga: Another wanderer come to learn the art of the bo, I presume?
- Naoe: I am Fujibayashi Naoe, daughter of Tsuyu. I am here for the key she entrusted to you.
- Taguchi: Are you now? Yes, I do see the resemblance. I wonder if it is more than skin deep.
- Naoe: Please, I must have that key before Kimura Yukari finds us.
- Taguchi: Ah, but there is still impatience there. I can work with this.
- Naoe: Tsuyu mentioned I must best you. If that is what it will take...
- Taguchi: All in good time. First, tell me, do you have experience with the bo?
- Naoe: I trained with Bo Master Meiran. Briefly.
- Taguchi: How fortunate for you. His skills are legendary for good reason. Very well. If you want the key, prove to me you are Fujibayashi.
Taguchi called for his student to duel against Naoe. The two bowed to each other and began.
- Taguchi: Please. Demonstrate your skills with the bo. Practice your high, neutral, and low stances with my student here.
Naoe first landed a strike with the bo in a normal attack.
- Taguchi: Good. The variation of stances is key. Please, show me another.
Naoe performs an attack with the neutral stance.
- Taguchi: A well-timed neutral attack will push your opponent back. Useful for keeping them at a distance. Very good. Now try another posture.
Naoe performs an attack with the high stance.
- Taguchi: Good. A high attack may stagger your opponent. I myself like to surprise my foes as they attack with a swift high strike. Yes. Now, show me another stance, please.
Naoe attacks the student with a low stance, tripping him.
- Taguchi: Impressive. A low attack will topple any opponents you catch off guard. Against a group, it is a formidable technique.
- Naoe: I understand now. Each posture has a unique advantage.
Naoe returned to speak to Taguchi.
- Taguchi: Impressive.
- Naoe: Now, will you give me the key?
- Taguchi: I believe your mother said you must best me. So... best me.
Naoe fought against the teacher and defeated him after a lengthy fight.
- Taguchi: Ah... you are your mother's daughter indeed.
- Naoe: This weapon is versatile, effective. I see why you have dedicated your life to it.
- Taguchi: Then we part as kindred spirits. I hid your mother's key above the Mountainside Ruins.
- Naoe: Thank you.
- Taguchi: Farewell Naoe, but be warned. This land is Yukari's. You must keep eyes in the back of your head.
Naoe left the master and thought to herself.
- Naoe: I know the location of Tsuyu's key. I should head there next.-->
Outcome[edit | edit source]
Having bested Myoga, Naoe received the location of her mother's key.
