The Trident of Eden was an ancient artifact created by the Isu during human prehistory. In three parts scattered across the globe, one section of the Trident was rumored to be buried with Genghis Khan.[1]

In the modern era, a teenager named Owen discovered the existence of the artifact through the exploration of his ancestor's memories in the Animus which pulled him into the conflict between the Assassins and Templars.[2] Owen and a group fellow teens went in search of the Trident but the first part ended up stolen out from under Assassin and Templar forces by an unknown third element while Owen's group came apart. Some took sides with the Assassins, others with the Templars and, in the following weeks, the two factions pursued the second piece of the Trident in Mongol China.[1]
