Revolver

A revolver is a repeating handgun with one or more barrels and a revolving cilinder containing multiple chambers for firing, from which it gets its name. Though prototypes of revolvers have existed since at least the 15th century, it would not be mass produced until the early 19th century, with the peak of its popularity taking place in the mid-to-late 19th century, eventually being surpassed in convenience and capacity by semi-automatic pistols.[1]
History
Lieutenants[2] and Sergeants[3] working for the East India Company in early 19th-century British India were equipped with revolvers. Globally, both Templars and Assassins were equipped with revolvers during the Industrial Revolution to the end of the 19th century.[4][5]
In Russia, around the time of the Revolution, the Red Army usually equipped their soldiers with pistols and rifles, saving revolvers to be used by their officers.[6] Also during this period, initiates of the Russian Brotherhood of Assassins favored this style of firearm.[7]
