Fabrice Sabourin (born c. 1850) was a member of the French Brotherhood of Assassins who operated in the mid-19th century.

Biography[edit | edit source]

Fighting the Prussians[edit | edit source]

Prior to the Franco-Prussian War, Fabrice and his younger brother Jules worked for the Parisian Assassin leader Michel Moulin at his glass factory, and aided both him and the British Assassin Simeon Price with sabotaging the German telegraph lines in an attempt to help prevent the outbreak of war between France and Prussia. However, their efforts proved inconsequential as war was declared in the summer of 1870.[1]

Hiding from being called to arms, both Fabrice and Jules learned from Simeon on a few Assassins' skills until their father came and pleaded for them to protect their hometown. Despite Simeon's pleas, both brothers came out, thanked Price for his teachings, and left with their father.[2] Unfortunately, Fabrice, Jules, and six of his cousins were ambushed by the Prussians while fighting, with Fabrice the sole survivor. Afterwards, he made his way to Champ de Mars, where he met with Simeon again and expressed his sorrows.[3]

On 27 October, Fabrice joined the Parisians and the French Assassins in retaking Le Bourget from the Prussians. However, after three days, they lost control of the village back to Prussians and Fabrice was lost in the combat.[4] Fortunately, at the end of the war, he was found with few injuries.[5]

Stopping the Engine of History[edit | edit source]

Nearly two decades later, Fabrice was part of the French Assassins and visited Simeon in his residence in Montmartre. He revealed that he and other Assassins were after Simeon's ex-lover and Austrian Templar Countess Konstanze von Visler, who was spotted in Paris for her iron material for the Eiffel Tower. Investigating the matter, Fabrice followed the countess to her hotel room but found Simeon already inspecting the room. They soon learned of a woman escaping outside. While Fabrice took the stairs, Simeon immediately gave chase. However, both saw the woman to be a young decoy.[6]

From her room, both Assassins showed Michel and Assassin Mary Fitzpatrick a puzzle box they recovered. With Mary decoding the message to Konstanze, they found that the Engine of History was near completion and a picture of the Eiffel Tower behind the letter.[6] Along with Assassin Pierrette Arnaud and her ward Spider Wallin, Fabrice and the Assassins planned to blow up the tower before the Templars enacted their plan. Fabrice, Michel and Mary were in charge of laying the charges and detonations.[7]

On the day of their explosive plan, Fabrice distracted the guards while Simeon aided in planting the charges. With him and Mary ready to blow up the tower at the designated time, they were soon informed seconds before of abandoning their plans from a Morse code from atop the tower. Visited by Simeon and Spider, the Assassins learned that the explosion was a frame-job and how Konstanze planned to frame them all as terrorists. With Mary, he disarmed the charges as they stopped themselves from blowing up the tower.[8]
