Straight razor
The straight razor is a tool and weapon that is mainly used for its intended purposes of manual shaving.
History[edit | edit source]
During the Renaissance, the Italian Templar Baltasar de Silva served as Cesare Borgia's master spy, gathering information for the Borgia family on the Italian Assassins while working undercover as a barber. He often used the hairdresser's tool,[1] custom-made by Auguste Oberlin,[2] to lethal effect as an improvised weapon.[1]
In 1852, the former soldier Simeon Price, under the alias of "Jack Straw," received a pearl-handled razor from his new employer and mentor, Oscar Kane. The razor was a gift for Price to use as a means to protect himself.[3] During a winter party at Baron Julius Jacob von Haynau's home, Price used the razor to save Kane's life when the latter was nearly strangled to death by the baron's lawyer, Karl Mayr, whose throat Price slit after a short struggle.[4] After finding out that the Templar known as "the Magus" was his own mentor, Price carried his razor in every subsequent confrontation with Kane.[5][6]
