Workers' and Peasants' Militia

The Workers' and Peasants' Militsiya was a force of volunteer civilian fighters created by the Bolsheviks which comprised part of the Red Army.[1][2][3][4] These men had little to no professional training or combat experience, and the militia was chiefly counted on to provide an ample supply of cheap manpower. They acted to enforce the Bolsheviks' security measures in the cities they controlled during the Russian Revolution and the early days of the Soviet Union. The Bolsheviks also intended them to be a symbolic contrast with the previous state police, which they touted as "protection for the rich".[1]

Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]

The Workers' and Peasants' Militia is a category of weak enemies that the player encounters in Assassin's Creed Chronicles: Russia. They consist of three enemy types: the Militia Melee,[2] the Militia Rifleman,[3] and the Militia Sergeant.[4]

The name of this civilian force as provided by the game's database entry is "Workers' and Peasants' Militsiya", an awkward mixture of English and romanized Russian rather than the more straightforward "Workers' and Peasants' Militia". As a result, militsiya can be mistaken as a misspelling of the English word militia, and the name has been altered into English for this article's title for consistency and clarity.
