The Blind Blacksmith was a virtual representation of one of Kassandra's genetic memories, relived by Layla Hassan through the Portable Animus HR-8.5 and a memory of Layla herself.
Kassandra met with Kallipides, an old blacksmith living in Alponos, in order to get its citizens armed against the upcoming pirate invasion.
Dialogue
Kassandra speaks to the blacksmith.
Kassandra:Are you the blacksmith?
Kallipedes:I was. Then another misthios, an Eagle Something, came to help. Kind young man.
Kassandra:It's "Eagle Bearer," and there's only one. Me.
Kallipedes:Ah. The one who sunk the reinforcements?
Kassandra:Gossip travels fast. Let's talk about the other misthios, "Eagle Something."
Kassandra:I heard the "Eagle Something" made a real mess of things.
Kallipedes:The poor boy lit my forge, but somehow caused the fire to erupt. Flames everywhere. I can barely see now or move my hands.
Kassandra:But you're the only smith in town, and pirates are coming. We need you to start making weapons.
Kallipedes:No need to worry. Old Kallipedes has a few good blades left in him. I just need some space to work. Those stone blocks would make a fine table. Could you move them for me?
(I'll start by moving the blocks.)
Kassandra:Sounds easy enough.
Kassandra picks up the block.
Kassandra:Ugh! You could crush someone with these things if you're not careful.
Kassandra sets the blocks down by the step and then speaks to the blacksmith.
Kallipedes:Excellent work! Well, what next? I suppose we can't make weapons without iron, now can we?
(I have iron to share.)
Kassandra:I have more than enough to share. Have some of mine.
Kassandra throws a bag of iron to the blacksmith, but it hits him in the chest and falls to the ground.
Kallipedes:Well, this is certainly better than when that other misthios came to help. All a good smith needs now are his tools.
Kassandra:Your tools. Really?
Kallipedes:The Eagle Something said they were stolen by a group of bad eggs. They rode west of here, but I'm not sure where.
Kassandra:I'll get them. Then you'll be ready to work?
Kallipedes:Of course! You've been so kind to this old smith. I thought I'd never work again. But your generosity has changed all that.
Kassandra goes to a nearby camp to retrieve the tools from a thug.
Kassandra:Why would common thugs want old tools?
Kassandra returns to the city to speak to the blacksmith.
Kassandra:I've got your tools right here.
Kallipedes:What a day! You should be proud. You've given this old man purpose again. Now, if you could just set those aside for a moment, I'll get started.
Kassandra turns to leave. However, as she leaves, Kallipedes trips on the nearby stone blocks.
Kallipedes:Woah!
While downed, one of Kallipedes' tools falls down upon him. Kassandra hears his resulting screams, and promptly turns back around.
Kassandra:Kallipedes!
Kassandra runs back around the corner just in time to see another tool fall, and grimaces as the blacksmith's groans stop.
Kassandra:Kallipedes?
When Kallipedes doesn't respond, Kassandra lowers her head and walks off as a third tool falls. Kassandra turns to face a whimpering dog.
Kassandra:By the gods. I've seen a lot in my life, but that was brutal.
The quest ends.
Kassandra:Poor Kallipedes. That's... That's not good.
Outcome
Kassandra moved some stone blocks for the blacksmith and provided him with iron. She then recovered his tools from pirates. Unfortunately, the old blind man tripped and died from several falling tools, leaving the village unarmed.
Trivia
Alexios has a different line spoken to the dog at the end of the quest. When talking to the dog, Alexios will kneel down before saying, "You should get out of Alponos while you can, girl. This place is cursed."
