Roshan (روشان; born c. 800) was a former-slave Hidden One who attained the rank of Master Assassin based at the stronghold of Alamut in what is now Iran. She was the mentor of Basim Ibn Ishaq, a street thief from Samarra who was secretly the reincarnation of the Isu Loki.

Biography

Activities in England

In 867, Roshan was assisted by Eivor Varinsdottir in eliminating Sir Edward, the so-called Earl of Westerna and Al-Si'la. Al-Si'la travelled to Ravensburg, England some time prior, where she manipulated Sir Edward, Earl of Westerna's anger at the Vikings of the Raven Clan into her plans. The Saxon mercenaries in Sir Edward's employ often stole the Raven Clans' gear and launch raids with it to frame them. While the Saxons and Edward kept any looted gold and silver, Al-Si'la took all writings for herself.[2]

Roshan and Eivor infiltrated Ravensburg, and after Eivor publicly assassinated Sir Edward, Roshan dropped from a tree and killed Al-Si'la. Roshan then looted a scroll from her body and said she would deliver it to Jerusalem, describing its contents as "a seed to plant" for the future.[2]

Personality and traits

Roshan was a woman of Persian descent and had a strong personality. A true warrior who was loyal and honest, she fought for justice and to protect her fellow Hidden Ones, but kept details of her life shrouded in mystery.[3]

Roshan is a character created for Assassin's Creed: Mirage, where she is voiced by Iranian-American actress Shohreh Aghdashloo, but her older self was introduced in Assassin's Creed: Valhalla as part of a free update for players in 2022.
