A Disturbance in Kii was a virtual representation of one of Fujibayashi Naoe and Yasuke's genetic memories, relived through the Animus EGO.[1]
Description[edit | edit source]
Having been warned of a disturbance in Kii, Naoe and Yasuke headed to Yuasa.
Dialogue[edit | edit source]
Naoe and Yasuke arrived at the town of Yuasa and saw a crowd gathering around a man dressed in black robes.
- Hana: Chichiue (Father), let's go see, let's go see!
- Tsuyoshi: Of course, my child.
- Hana: I wanna get really close!
- Eamon: I have seen many strange beasts during my travels! Some scary. Some dangerous. And if what you tell me is true, you will be rewarded with those same fantastic beasts!
The two joined the crowd and watched as an older man engaged the surrounding children while holding a drawing of various symbols.
The children nodded in agreement.
- Eamon: Very well, then—a deal is a deal... Here it is!
The old man took out a bear figurine.
- Eamon: Behold the European brown bear—a frightening beast as tall as two men standing on each other' shoulders! (growls)
Naoe and Yasuke noticed the Templar pin on the man's robes. The old man swapped out a leopard figurine.
While he spoke, Naoe blended behind the crowd and moved to its other end so that she and Yasuke had two potential angles of attack.
- Eamon: They circle around their prey and stalk them from behind... Slowly... Silently...
He gave a sidelong glance in Naoe's direction, indicating that he had seen through her attempt at stealth.
- Eamon: They say you can feel their breath on the nape of your neck right before they strike...
He suddenly stood up to startle the children.
- Eamon: (roars)
He laughed at their excitement, then gave the leopard figurine to a little girl and clasped the hilt of his greatsword at his waist, directing his next words to Naoe and Yasuke.
- Eamon: This sword belonged to my grandfather—and to his great-grandfather before him. It is said to have acquired a singular thirst for blood during the Holy Crusades... If it's all the same to you, I'd prefer a civilized conversation.
Naoe and Yasuke approached the man.
- Yasuke: You are Templar.
- Eamon: Oh, I am much more than that, I assure you.
- Naoe: Alright. Talk...
- Eamon: Allow me to introduce myself. I am Sir Eamon Hathaway. And of course, you are Fujibayashi Naoe and the one they call... Diogo, was it?
- Naoe and Yasuke: Yasuke.
- Eamon: Of course—Yasuke. Pray, forgive me. I must admit I was surprised to hear about Assassins in Japan. There was no mention of your Brotherhood at the Synod.
Naoe blinked in confusion.
- Eamon: Ah. You have no idea what I’m talking about, do you? Pity. Trading barbs with mortal enemies is one of life's great pleasures.
- Yasuke: What do you want, Templar?
- Eamon: To business, then.
Eamon showed wanted posters for both Naoe and Yasuke.
- Eamon: For your transgressions against the Order, I am here to kill you both.
- Yasuke: Nuno Caro and Duarte de Melo deserved to die twenty times over!
- Eamon: I assure you, I do not personally mourn their loss. Few things try my patience more than cleaning up after lesser men—let alone lesser Templars.
- Naoe: Well, people who speak in riddles try my patience, so start making sense.
- Eamon: However. A greater purpose calls me from these shores. One that might even sway me from killing you.
- Yasuke: You would share the same fate—
Yasuke prepared to draw his ōdachi.
- Naoe: Yasuke. Not here.
- Yasuke: (sighs)
He sheathed his blade.
- Eamon: Once I acquire what I seek, we will sail away from this place, never to return. You have my word.
- Yasuke: The worthless word of a Templar...
- Naoe: We?
- Eamon: I beg your pardon?
- Naoe: You said "we"—who else is with you?
- Eamon: (chuckles) Well, there's this drunk Chinese captain in dire need of a new ship, for one... Most likely drowning his sorrows at this hour.
Yasuke scowled at him.
- Yasuke: Any other Templars we should worry about?
- Eamon: After what you and your Assassin friend have done, you will both have to worry about Templars for the rest of your lives...
- Naoe: Second mistake.
- Eamon: My dear girl, if the signing of your death warrant is no concern to you—
- Naoe: Not that part—the part where you assumed I was an Assassin. (chuckles)
- Eamon: Is something amusing?
- Naoe: You were right—trading barbs with mortal enemies is pretty fun.
- Eamon: This is my offer: keep to yourselves and we will be out of your hair in no time. But stand between me and my goal, and we will kill you both. Farewell, Assassin—or however you call yourself.
- Naoe: I am kakushiba-ikki.
- Eamon: And I am Black Cross.
Eamon bowed, then signaled for the children to follow him.
- Eamon: Come, children! Who wants me to carve an elephant?
He left with the children loudly cheering and trailing behind.
- Naoe: We can't allow him to take whatever he wants.
- Yasuke: Agreed. Perhaps we should look for that ship captain he mentioned?
- Naoe: My thoughts exactly.
- Yasuke: I will alert you if I find any leads.
- Naoe: Yasuke? Are you okay?
- Yasuke: (sighs) I will be... Templars have a way of getting to me...
- Naoe: Let me help you this time.
Outcome[edit | edit source]
With the reveal of a new Templar threat having arrived in Japan, Yasuke and Naoe focused on gathering intel.
