The Doctor Will See You Now was a virtual representation of one of Kassandra's genetic memories, relived by Layla Hassan through the Portable Animus HR-8.5.

Description

Kassandra found Hippokrates busy with a crowd of the wounded and sick. In order to save his dying patient, the good doctor needed medical notes from a nearby fort's chief physician.

Dialogue

Kassandra fled the guesthouse to meet with Dymas at Fort Tiryns in order to recover Hippokrates's notes. She snuck her way into the fort, scaring Dymas when she entered his room.

• Dymas: What are you doing here?
• Kassandra: Hippokrates sent me. Your commander stole his notes, and I think you have them.
• Dymas: The ones written by the great Hippokrates himself? I'm sorry. They were burned in the last attack.
• Kassandra: What?
• Dymas: You heard me. The medical tent was burned. At least I memorized the notes before we lost them. I'll transcribe them when I have time - or when the war subsides.
• Kassandra: Then you'll have to come with me. A patient Hippokrates is treating will die without your help.
• Dymas: I have a patient right here who needs my help.
• Kassandra: Can't someone else take care of this one?
• Dymas: I'm the only doctor here. Now let me work.

(If players choose "I could pay you.")

• Kassandra: You must work for drachmae just like everyone else. Whatever the commander is paying you, I'll pay you more. Then we leave.
• Dymas: And let this person die? I could be convinced, on two conditions.
• Kassandra: Out with it.
• Dymas: I'll take double - a life's worth a lot. And for the sake of the gods, don't tell Hippokrates.

(If players choose "Fine. Take the drachmae.")

• Kassandra: Hippokrates would never put drachmae before a patient's life. But here, since you're so determined to be a mercenary. I'll meet you there. Don't be late.

Kassandra departed the fort.

Before Speak No Evil

Kassandra returned to Hippokrates at the Cave of Pan immediately with Dymas in tow.

(If Dymas came willingly)

• Kassandra: Hippokrates! How is your patient?

(If Kassandra stopped to help Dymas complete his surgery)

• Hippokrates: You were gone so long. He didn't survive.
• Dymas: I'm sorry, Hippokrates. We took more time because this misthios helped me save my own patient.
• Hippokrates: Sometimes science requires tough decisions.

(If Dymas was bribed)

• Hippokrates: Poor.

Hippokrates recognized Dymas.

• Hippokrates: Dymas? What are you doing here?

I paid him to come.Let's heal your patient.(Lie) Dymas insisted on being here.

• Kassandra: Your notes were destroyed, so he demanded pay to come help.
• Dymas: You said you wouldn't tell him!
• Kassandra: No, I didn't.
• Hippokrates: No matter. Dymas can help, and we have a man who needs saving.

• Kassandra: There was a fire. Your notes were destroyed. What matters is that Dymas is here to help.
• Hippokrates: Good. Dymas, with me.

• Kassandra: When I told old Dymas here you were in need, I could barely hold him back.
• Dymas: That's just the effect the great doctor has on us healers. There was a fire. Your notes were lost. But I'm here to help.
• Hippokrates: I can always use another set of hands.

Hippokrates and Dymas inspected the patient as the scene faded to black. After a time, the patient sat up as Hippokrates turned to Kassandra.

• Hippokrates: He'll live.

(If Dymas was carried on Kassandra's shoulder)

• Kassandra: How is he, Hippokrates?
• Hippokrates: Poor, but there's still a chance. Did you find my notes?
• Kassandra: Not quite. Will this do?
• Hippokrates: Who is this?
• Dymas: Hippokrates! I'm sorry, your notes were destroyed. But I have them all in my head.
• Hippokrates: Then it is your duty to help me save this man's life.

Hippokrates and Dymas inspected the patient as the scene faded to black. After a time, the patient sat up as Hippokrates turned to Kassandra.

• Hippokrates: He'll live.

(If Kassandra knocked out Dymas and abandoned his patient)

• Dymas: I wish I could say the same for my patient.
• Hippokrates: What patient?
• Dymas: Your misthios friend attacked me while I was in the middle of an operation!
• Kassandra: It was the only way to get him here in time.
• Hippokrates: While you did save my patient, the other did not deserve their fate.

Hippokrates turned back to Dymas.

• Hippokrates: At least we saved one soul today.

(If Kassandra executed Dymas's patient before knocking him out)

• Dymas: Your misthios friend murdered a patient I was treating, then attacked me!
• Hippokrates: Is that true, Kassandra?
• Kassandra: I did what I had to.
• Hippokrates: We should not decide who lives and who dies.

Hippokrates turned back to Dymas.

• Hippokrates: My fellow healer, I offer my humblest apologies.

After the three discussed the patient's outcome, Dymas offered to recreate the notes.

• Dymas: If we're finished here, I'll take some time and write down what I remember of your notes, Hippokrates.
• Kassandra: I'll go see the priests for more information about my mother.
• Hippokrates: Come with me. You've had a busy day.

Hippokrates took Kassandra aside to talk to her in private, tossing her an apple.

• Hippokrates: The importance of diet to maintaining one's health cannot be overstated.
• Kassandra: What good can one apple really do?
• Hippokrates: Well, taken daily, they can keep the doctor away.
• Hippokrates: But... to more serious matters. I know why you're here. You're looking for your mother.
• Kassandra: You remember her?
• Hippokrates: I was young then - I didn't know how to help. I turned her away. But her look of determination and despair was burned into my mind. It has never left me and it never will. After, I swore to Apollo that I wouldn't turn away another patient - that I'd dedicate my life to the cause. She made an impression on me, your brave mother did.
• Kassandra: She would be happy to know that.
• Hippokrates: I sent your mother to the Sanctuary of Asklepios. Tell the elder priest a treatment for the Sacred Disease will soon be available to any patient who needs it. Then he may talk to you.
• Kassandra: Thank you for everything, Hippokrates. I'll go see him now.

After 'Speak No Evil'

Kassandra returned to Hippokrates a significant period of time after their first meeting, having traveled to the Sanctuary of Asklepios before completing this errand.

(If Dymas came willingly)

• Kassandra: Hippokrates! How's the patient?
• Hippokrates: I couldn't remember the proper steps for treatment, and you were gone so long.
• Dymas: Your notes were destroyed in a fire. This misthios brought me here to help.

(If Dymas was carried out on Kassandra's shoulder)

• Kassandra: How's the patient, Hippokrates?
• Hippokrates: I couldn't remember the proper steps for treatment, and you were gone so long.
• Dymas: Where am I? What's going on?
• Hippokrates: My friend here, Kassandra, brought you to help me with a patient, Dymas.

Kassandra confessed the reason for her delay.

• Kassandra: I went to see the priests first. I had to find out about my mother.
• Hippokrates: A worthy pursuit, though it cost this man his life.

(If Dymas was bribed)

It cost me drachmae, too.This healer works for you, now.

• Kassandra: It cost a life, and me a fortune. You wouldn't believe how much I had to pay this healer to come with me.
• Hippokrates: Is this true?
• Dymas: You said you wouldn't tell Hippokrates.
• Kassandra: No, I didn't. But I'd say now is a good time to start working for that pay.

• Kassandra: This healer will devote the rest of his life to serving others and you, Hippokrates. This should never happen again.

Regardless of how Dymas was delivered, Hippokrates taught the two an important lesson about the practice of medicine.

• Hippokrates: The payment we should seek is the preservation of life. A good doctor puts the needs of his patients first.
• Dymas: I have learned a lesson today. I'll take some time and write down what I remember of your notes, Hippokrates.
• Kassandra: Hippokrates, I'm sorry the patient died. But I still need to know what happened to my mother.
• Hippokrates: Come with me. We should talk.

Hippokrates took Kassandra aside to talk to her in private, tossing her an apple.

• Kassandra: Who's Dolops?
• Hippokrates: He was a priest who dedicated his life to helping orphans. It's possible he remembers that night, long ago. Maybe he would know something about your mother and her child.
• Kassandra: I'll go see this man. Thank you, Hippokrates.

Outcome

Kassandra brought Dymas to reconstitute Hippokrates's notes, and in turn the doctor pointed her in the direction of one who could help her find her mother.

Trivia

• There are four ways to get Dymas to help Hippokrates:

• The first is to help him with his surgery first. Hippokrates's patient will die from the delay, and Dymas will apologize for causing the delay. Hippokrates responds that "Sometimes science requires tough decisions." This is the only method that will remove the Bone Forceps quest item, as that item will persist in either the chest or in the player's inventory.
• The second is to bribe Dymas. This requires 10,000 drachmae and leaves Dymas' patient to die, which Dymas simply does not mention to Hippokrates. The player has the option of encouraging this ruse or dressing down his monetary demand in front of Hippokrates. Regardless, Dymas is able to save Hippokrates's patient.
• The third is to threaten Dymas and knock him out cold. This avoids the payment but adds the burden of having to carry the unconscious Dymas out of Fort Tiryns and back to Hippokrates. He later tells Hippokrates what the player did, to which he replies that Dymas's patient did not deserve their fate.
• The fourth is to execute the patient. This has the same outcome as the third, as Dymas yells for help and is knocked out. He later tells Hippokrates that the player murdered his patient. Hippokrates is shocked, replies that "We should not decide who lives and who dies," and apologizes to Dymas.

• If the quest is completed after Speak No Evil, the delay causes Hippokrates's patient to die no matter what. The blame is placed wholly on the player as the hero takes full responsibility, although if Dymas is bribed, the player can mention that it cost them a fortune to get Dymas to leave the fort.

• Completing this quest before 'Speak No Evil' results in Hippokrates telling the player to go to the Sanctuary of Asklepios and tell an elder priest that a cure for the Sacred Disease will soon be ready, implying that this will get them to talk. Unfortunately, no such option actually exists in the game and the player must complete, at the very least, A Heart for a Head and 'Speak No Evil', as though they had gone to the Sanctuary first. However, instead of rubbing their necks indecisively, Mydon and his servant will tell the player about the Altar of Apollo Maleatas in 'Speak No Evil' and allow them to proceed immediately to Ashes to Ashes.
• Completing this quest after 'Speak No Evil' is the only way to get A Herald of Murder to become available. Hippokrates will not mention Dolops at all if Mydon has not been spoken to.

• In most of the dialogues, Hippokrates is well aware of who Dymas is, however he will ask "Who is this?" when bringing him unwillingly and prior to 'Speak No Evil.'
