Solving that little mystery is exactly why we collected these pages. This article contains an excess of information lacking citations or in need of having them updated. Please ensure that all content are appropriately sourced per the wiki's guidelines. |
The Norse people (or the Norsemen) were a North Germanic ethnolinguistic group of the Early Middle Ages, during which they spoke Old Norse and practiced a distinct set of beliefs known as Norse paganism. During the 8th century, the Norsemen embarked on seafaring expansions that would later be known as the Viking Age. These Norse traders, settlers and warriors became commonly known as Vikings.[1] Those that became mercenaries were known as Jomsvikings, while Norse women that participated in raids alongside their male counterparts were generally referred to as shieldmaidens.[2][3]
