I wanted to ask you something. Which is... what's your name? This article title is conjecture. Although the article subject is canon, no official name for it has been given. |
- "As for the third and final artifact that we'll find in the forgotten temple... it serves to spread the other two artifacts's immense power far and wide. Its reach could stretch across an entire continent... perhaps even to the ends of Earth."
- ―Edward Kenway on the Piece of Eden's powers, 1725.[src]-[m]
The lotus disk is a Piece of Eden created by the Isu alongside two other artifacts: the crescent amulet and the lantern. Designed to spread the other two Pieces' power, it functions as a transmission device, capable of sending signals across large distances.
For centuries, the disk was housed within an Isu temple in the former Khmer city of Angkor. In both the 18th and 21st centuries, the artifact and its two sister Pieces of Eden were sought after by various factions intending to use their powers for their own ends.

Functionality
While its powers were more limited than both the crescent amulet's and the lantern's, the lotus disk nonetheless served as an essential component of the set, as it was what allowed the other two Pieces of Eden's powers to be spread across large distances.[2]
It was believed that the disk's transmission capabilities could stretch across a continent, or perhaps even the entire world. This made it a potentially deadly tool in the hands of individuals who wished to assert their will over humanity, as they could easily use the combined power of the three Pieces of Eden to enslave the human race.[2]
History
Early history
The disk was created at some point during the Isu Era alongside its two sister Pieces of Eden, forming a set.[3] After the Great Catastrophe in 75,000 BCE, which wiped out the Isu civilization,[1] knowledge of the set, its location, and its powers was lost.[3]
18th century
By the early 18th century, the disk had come to be housed in an Isu temple in the Khmer Empire's former capital city of Angkor.[2] At some point during his travels, the Dutch navigator Hendrik discovered the temple and found the disk atop a tower facing the Sun.[4] Unable to retrieve it, he wrote down clues regarding its location in his sea log, intending to return to the ruins at a later date.[5] However, he would never get the chance to do so before his untimely death in February 1725.[4]
That same year, the British Assassin Edward Kenway and the members of his Zhang Wei Union began a search for the three Pieces of Eden in Southeast Asia, seeking to keep them out of the wrong hands. After coming into contact with the crescent amulet, Edward began to experience visions of the past and the future, which informed him of the other two artifacts' whereabouts. Choosing to focus on the lantern first, Edward and his companions sailed to Burma to retrieve it, whereupon they planned to travel to Angkor to find the disk.[2]
Meanwhile, Xiao Han, the Mentor of the Chinese Assassins, and his ally Lee Huiyin also discovered the artifacts' location after acquiring Hendrik's sea log.[6] Upon stealing the amulet from Edward,[7] they organized an expedition into the jungles of Indochina, seeking to retrieve the lotus disk from Angkor's temple.[2]
