The assassination of Galeazzo Maria Sforza was an act committed by the Italian Templars in an effort to destabilize the relationship between Milan and Florence.
Revelation
As the Templars' Grand Master Rodrigo Borgia and his men left Florence on foot by night, they were attacked by the Italian Assassin Giovanni Auditore. Rodrigo himself retreated while Giovanni easily dispatched his men. The Assassin captured one and took him prisoner to the home of his employer, Lorenzo de' Medici, for questioning.[1]
Tortured on a rack by Uberto Alberti and the Medici's men, the prisoner revealed their plans: Milan's Duke and powerful Medici ally Galeazzo Maria Sforza was to be murdered in the Basilica di Santo Stefano Maggiore on Boxing Day, during the Saint Stephen's Day Feast.
