Penelope's Shroud was a virtual representation of one of the Misthios's genetic memories, relived by Layla Hassan through the Portable Animus HR-8.5.
Description
Dialogue
Misthios departed the shore and Elpenor to recover Penelope's Shroud. The island of Ithaka rested across the waters. Misthios snuck up to the ruins.
- Misthios: All the years I lived on Kephallonia... I never realized the mighty Odysseus's palace was here.
Working through the ruins, Misthios came across Odessa, imprisoned in a wooden cage. Misthios freed Odessa after killing the guards.
- Odessa: Hey, get me out of here!
- Misthios: Let's get out of here. Can you fight?
- Odessa: I'd be happy to.
(The above continues with the side quest A Small Odyssey)
Misthios found the shroud, intending to escape the Palace.
- Misthios: Penelope's shroud. In the flesh. I mean cloth.
Elpenor was pleased upon Misthios's return at the Temple of Zeus.
- Elpenor: (Misthios). Good news, I hope.
- Misthios: Safe and sound.
- Elpenor: Well done. And now the shroud is yours.
- Misthios: You don't want it? After all that?
- Elpenor: I gained something more valuable today. For your troubles, misthios.
Elpenor's servant tossed a bag of coins to the table before Misthios.
- Misthios: If I knew any better, I'd think you were testing me.
- Elpenor: Perhaps.
The servant then handed Misthios a scroll.
- Elpenor: You did well, misthios. Tell me, how do you feel about killing a general in Megaris? Do this for me, and earn double what you earned today. Are you up to the task? It would take you far away from Kephallonia. So far away you might never return.
(If players choose "Military ranks mean nothing to me.")
- Misthios: Generals bleed like anyone else.
- Elpinor: Good. What do you say?
(If players choose "Why choose me?")
- Misthios: Why me?
- Elpenor: Because no one knows who you are. You're invisible.
(If players choose "What can you tell me about Megaris?")
- Misthios: Anything I should know about Megaris?
- Elpenor: Only that it's the most valuable land in the Greek world, from a military perspective of course. Unfortunately for Megarians, it has two very powerful neighbors who just can't seem to play nice. In the tug of war between Korinth and Athens, Megaris is the rope.
(If players choose "Who is the general I have to kill?")
- Misthios: Who is this general?
- Elpenor: They call him "The Wolf."
- Misthios: He do something to offend you?
- Elpenor: Yes... He's costing me drachmae. He's not good for business.
- Misthios: I accept.
- Elpenor: Splendid. You'll need a boat. You have one, don't you?
(If players choose "I have a boat.")
- Misthios: Of course.
- Elpenor: Good. I hope it's sturdy.
- Misthios: And why is that?
- Elpenor: The seas are much more dangerous, I'm afraid. War is coming, and the Wolf is on the wrong side.
(If players choose "What war?")
- Misthios: War? With who?
- Elpenor: The entire Greek world is at each other's throats. What rock have you been hiding under, exactly?
- Misthios: Kephallonia.
(If players choose "Why should I trust you?")
- Misthios: And how do I know you're on the right side?
- Elpenor: Because I'm the one paying you.
- Misthios: You won't be disappointed.
- Elpenor: When your job in Megaris is done, come find me at Pilgrim's Landing in Phokis.
