I wanted to ask you something. Which is... what's your name? This article title is conjecture. Although the article subject is canon, no official name for it has been given. |

The Alamut Temple was a small Isu temple located beneath the Assassins' fortress in Alamut. Originally a prison, it was later used to store dozens of Memory Seals.
History
During the Isu Era, the temple served as a prison for rogue Isu. One notable inmate was Loki, who during his time there was subjected to intense psychological and physical torture. At some point, the temple was converted into a storage facility for Memory Seals, containing at least several dozens. Some of the seals held the recorded memories of the prison's inmates, including Loki.[1]
By the 9th century, the temple lay in ruins and all entrances had been blocked by debris and natural rock formations, with the exception of a single door, which required Isu DNA to open. After discovering the temple's ruins, the Hidden Ones established a camp around them to protect the site from the Order of the Ancients.[1] Over time, this camp became the main headquarters of the Hidden Ones in the region, who began construction of a fortress above the ruins.[2] At one point, the Hidden One Mentor Rayhan looked for a way into the ancient temple, but was unable to find any.[1]

In the 860s, Basim Ibn Ishaq, the reincarnation of Loki, sought to explore the temple to better understand his own nature, after being encouraged to do so by Qabiha, the Ra's Al-Af'a of the Order of the Ancients, who had taken an interest in the temple herself. Although Basim's mentor Roshan killed Qabiha and warned her apprentice against investigating the temple,[3] Basim disobeyed her and travelled to Alamut amidst an attack by the Tahirids, who had ended their protection of Alamut due to a deal with the Order.[1]
Basim helped his fellow Hidden Ones to fend off the attack before heading to the temple entrance, where he was confronted by Roshan. The senior Hidden One tried to prevent him from entering due to fearing what the temple might awaken inside him, but was ultimately defeated by her former apprentice. Afterwards, Basim used his blood to open the temple door and explored its various chambers before reaching the cell where Loki had once been held prisoner. This led Basim to regain the memories of his past life and ultimately embarce his nature as Loki's reincarnation.[1]
Sometime between 1228 and 1247, during his exile in Alamut, Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad, Mentor of the Levantine Assassins, was guided by his Apple of Eden[4] to the temple and claimed six of its Memory Seals, of which he later used five as the keys for his library beneath the fortress of Masyaf.[5] The British Assassin Edward Kenway would also explore the temple around 1724.[6][7]
