Dress for Success was a virtual representation of one of Fujibayashi Naoe's genetic memories, relived through the Animus EGO.[1]
Description
Naoe looks to acquire a kosode for her tea ceremony with Imai Sōkyū.
Dialogue
- Naoe: A tea ceremony will require a rare kosode.
Naoe visited the port of Sakai and spoke to a lady merchant.
- Naoe: Hello. Do you sell special kosode?
- Merchant: All of my kosode are special.
- Naoe: Enough for a tea ceremony? With some important guests.
- Merchant: Sure, I can make you something for that. In one week.
- Naoe: One week? I can't wait that long.
- Merchant: Blame the pirates. They stopped a shipment of silk from being delivered. All kosode makers are in the same boat.
- Naoe: What about the fabrics you have on display?
- Merchant: Those are just for show.
- Naoe: And if I brought you some silk?
- Merchant: Well, I could make a kosode in one day. But unless someone deals with the pirates, you'll have to wait for the shipment of silk.
Naoe decided to look for the silk aboard the ships in the harbor. She swam towards them.
Naoe approached a ship crewed by outlaws. As she climbed up, she overheard them speaking.
- Pirate Thug 1: Shinonome! You'd like to get your hands on that silk, wouldn't you? Make yourself a nice kosode?
- Pirate Thug 2: I'd rather get our mon. Those Sakai merchants always hold out, but they pay up in the end.
- Pirate Thug 1: Come on. I'd like to see you in a kosode.
- Pirate Thug 2: It would be the last thing you see.
Having confirmation that the silk was onboard, Naoe got up the ship and eliminated the pirates. She then looked at the stacks of silk in the deck.
- Naoe: That silk belongs in Sakai. I will free it from these pirates.
After recovering a bunch of silk from a chest, Naoe got off the ship and returned to the merchant.
- Naoe: I have silk. You can keep what's left of it if you make me a kosode in one day.
Naoe handed the silk to her.
- Merchant: Ah, of course, of course. Now, which silk? There's some nice red in there.
- Naoe: What about black? I like black.
- Merchant: There's black silk from the nanban. You know, the Portuguese. Not as fine as Chinese silk, but some might find it exotic.
- Naoe: The Portuguese silk, please. Black suits me better.
- Merchant: I could do a trim with gold thread so it's not so dark. Not our style, but it might work.
A day later, Naoe returned to the merchant.
- Merchant: This is my best work yet. I hope it brings you success at your tea ceremony.
- Naoe: I'm sure it will. Thank you.
(If "The Perfect Gift" is completed)
- Naoe: My training and disguise are complete. Now, back to House Imai.
Outcome
Naoe acquired a black kosode for Imai Sōkyū's upcoming tea ceremony.
