Catch and Release was a virtual representation of one of Kassandra's genetic memories, relived by Layla Hassan through the Portable Animus HR-8.5.

Description

The forlorn cries of a fisherman's wife drew the attention of Kassandra in Heraklion, and she agreed to help her.

Dialogue

While near the Fisherman's Beachhead, Kassandra heard a woman in distress.

• Civilian: Help! Somebody help me!

She spoke to the woman.

• Kassandra: What's the problem?
• Civilian: My husband is missing. He went out fishing yesterday near Anaphi and hasn't returned.

He deserves his fate.You're right to worry.

• Kassandra: Your husband is a poor fisherman if he can't take care of himself at sea.
• Civilian: He's a great fisherman. It's... it's something else -
• Kassandra: What?

• Kassandra: You must miss him.
• Civilian: This is more than a wife missing her husband. I truly fear he's in danger.
• Kassandra: In danger of what?

• Civilian: Pirates. They were spotted in the area recently. I told him it was too dangerous, but we needed the drachmae to pay Swordfish.

(Swordfish alive only - If players asked "Who is Swordfish?")

• Kassandra: Tell me about Swordfish.
• Civilian: My husband knows more about him than I do. Please save him, and he'll tell you anything!

(If players asked "How could your husband survive?")

• Kassandra: If pirates got to him, he may already be dead.
• Civilian: I can't give up hope. He has a fast ship - if he saw the pirates, he'd head to the nearest shore.

(If players chose "Sounds like you need help.)

• Kassandra: I could rescue your husband, for a price.
• Civilian: Please! I'll find a way to pay. Just get him back.

(Accept - "I'll help you.")

• Kassandra: I'll look for your husband. Where should I start?
• Civilian: His favorite fishing spot is on the west coast of Anaphi, north of here.
• Kassandra: If he's alive, I'll find him.

Kassandra boarded the Adrestia and sailed north to Anaphi. She spotted the wreckage of the fisherman's vessel off the western coast, and Ikaros helped her find the man.

• Kassandra: There he is!

He and his fellows were beset by pirates. Kassandra leapt into the fray and managed to save him from the pirates.

• Kassandra: Your wife sent me to find you.
• Civilian: Praise Poseidon. The pirates were waiting for high tide to attack.
• Kassandra: We need to leave now. I'll escort you back to Heraklion.
• Civilian: I'm right behind you.

Kassandra escorted him back to Fisherman's Beachhead and spoke to the reunited couple.

• Civilian: I owe you beyond measure.
• Civilian: How can I repay you?

With lots of drachmae.No reward necessary.

• Kassandra: My services are expensive.
• Civilian: I - of course. You're worth every drachma. There would be more, but Swordfish already took his cut.

• Kassandra: There's enough widows in this world - we didn't need another. I was happy to help.
• Civilian: We're behind on our payments to Swordfish, so your kindness is appreciated. But here, take this.

(Swordfish dead)

• Kassandra: Swordfish? You don't need to worry about him anymore. He's dead.
• Civilian: Dead?
• Civilian: He may be gone, but there will always be someone who takes advantage of the honest and the weak.
• Civilian: Still... Thank you, misthios.

Kassandra took her leave, noting where to find Swordfish.

• Kassandra: I should check out the waters near the beacon.

• Kassandra:
• Civilian:

Outcome

Kassandra rescued the wayward fisherman and returned him home safely.

Trivia

• The hero makes a closing comment to check out the waters near the beacon, which is part of the investigation into Swordfish, even if the investigation is not active at the time this quest is completed. It does not trigger if Swordfish is already dead, however.
• Even if the quest is completed prior to activating Blood in the Water, it will automatically increment that quest's investigation bar by one third. Completing the investigation bar is ultimately not required to locate Swordfish and complete that quest.
• The quest rewards the Swordfish Spear regardless of choice, with the "Lots of drachmae" option yielding significantly more money than the alternative.
