The Assault on Cyne Belle Castle was a Mercian attack against Cyne Belle Castle around 874 CE. Troops loyal to thegn Geadric fought forces under Lady Eadwyn, the wife of the late ealdorman Theodric who had allied with King Alfred of Wessex. The Vikings Eivor Varinsdottir and Sigurd Styrbjornsson, the Hidden One Basim ibn Ishaq, and Fulke assisted Geadric's assault. Unbeknownst to them all, Fulke was an Order of the Ancients member and her real reason for joining was to recover a piece of the Saga Stone that Eadwyn kept which had previously belonged to the Isu.[1]
